fqs setting for 951 track car
All,
I've got a 1986 951 with a bone-stock drivetrain.
I was wondering if there was any power to be gained by adjusting the fuel quality switch.
I did a search and the general answer seems to be no.
However, I'm wondering if setting 4, which would advance the timing but leave the a/f ratio alone, would allow for more power running on racing gas, like 100 octane. Agree?
Also, would there be any danger leaving that setting for street fuel (93 octane)?
Thanks!

Depending on your afrs you may be able to make more power with the fqs either adding or subtracting fuel. Like has been posted, you can't add timing. My advice is install an adjustable fpr and dyno it to maximize your current setup. These cars like to be relatively rich in the mid range to make the most torque. That may hurt your high rpms slightly but I have found these engines don't breath well enough stock to run them past 6000 rpm anyway.
