Thanks for posting the pics Shawn I think its a very cool car. I like coloring outisde the lines myself too; to each his own.

I hope you find out more about the car. Who knows, hopefully its still tucked away in a PCA members garage somewhere.

Oh, and in your OP you mentioned you were TAD. I am full time guard myself so we go TDY. A navy buddy once told me TAD unofficially stands for Traveling Around Drunk. But surely you Marines never drink right?

Thanks again for sharing,

michael

It does, and not all the time.

This has become one strange thread.

Looks like cabin fever is setting in rather early this year

True. Somehow we've drifted into a discussion of the value of making your own parts versus the difficulties of finding parts 25 years ago. I think we're comparing apples and zebras.

At least, I think that's what Ritz is talking about. I'm still not 100% sure...

I agree. Finding custom parts back in the "day" was just not the same. Try finding a coil over bolt on kit for "insert name of car"back then. IF they even existed for the model you were looking for, they were NOT bolt on, and could cost $2K++ Flash to modern times, and you can find an coil over kit for a honda civic for a couple hundred bucks. $2k was a lot of money then. It was easier to try and find a spring from another vehicle that would work.

No matter what. The car looks uber cool, and who cares if it is not a factory carrera. Anyone here seen one lately? Not likely. Not likely many driving around town back then either, so this car was someones attempt to customize their own car. The aftermarket was a different world then, and like was mentioned. No internet to spread the word on even the existance of parts availablity. Been there done that. Now you can mod your car almost as fast as you can type on the web.

I think ZR8ED is reading the same book as me, we may even be on the same "page."

I'll shut up now.

I don't think there was a negative value judgement in that not being a factory Carrera GT. In my ignorance, I thought it was one, but I was quickly disillusioned by several folks. Most of those folks also pointed out what a beautiful car it was, even if it wasn't a 924CGT.

No word from anyone in HI PCA yet. Still hoping to get something.

Meh, being obtuse at 22 is all part and parcel for that age.
I'm sure we all appreciate the amount of workmanship to get that car to look like that in the 80's. No mean feat.

Yeah it's a pretty sick car. Mine might look a little like it when I'm done, it already looks like that. I don't need to look at a picture though to see where it will be at in 10 years, 20 years, etc.
