Make sure you got the polarity correct on the LED leads. I've done a couple of them with good results.

I tried flipping it around too. no luck... ugh! im starting to think the led might be bad or something. batteries are brand new though.

The light should be a 3 volt LED. Stack the batteries on top of one another, hold one LED wire to the top of the batteries and the other to the bottom of the batteries. Does it light ? If not swap the polarity of the wires. Does it light ? If not, either the LED is bad or the batteries are bad.

yep, no light. must be the LED cause I JUST bought the batteries from radio shack. I think the LED was 3.2 or 3.6v. Shouldnt that still work?

i used the LED suggested in the writeup on arrnworx and on rennbay though aaaaand i just wasted 5 more bucks on ebay buying more leds. haha.

I wasn't a fan of stacking cells, since it looked sloppy with nothing to keep them concentric, so I took a new approach and used a CR1632. It's a 3V (lithium) cell and fits inside of the key head with a little modification.
The diameter of the cell pocket needs to be opened up, a dremel will make quick work of this with a toothed bit. The blue disk is a shim to take up the slop due to a shorter cell and put the button stroke close to factory. Its just plastic cut from the cap from a brake cleaner aerosol can. I haven't had any issues with this configuration and even with the modification, the key head can be returned to factory operation.

thanks guys! I am going to try my new LEDs when they come in from ebay and if this doesnt work ill try another route/approach with it i guess..

I purchased both the LED and cell at Radio Shack. All totaled I think I spent about $6 for the conversion.

You have to use 2 x 3V lithium cells. Get them (from China) on Ebay.
CR1220 is 12.0mm x 2.0mm (the battery # is the size code! amazing).

That's what I use, with a tiny little spacer.

For the LED any high-intensity T1-3/4 size (5mm) LED will work.

You don't need a resistor--the batteries have an internal resistance which will prevent burning out the LED.
