Yep, still have the UWB project. It will make an interesting evolutionary study when I finally get them all done: my middle son's '81 NA; my elder son's bone stock '81 931; the '81 931 Club Sport; the 941; the 937; and then the Ultra Wide Body!
If all goes well, I may actually be able to fire up the new 941 motor on Saturday. Then next week, hoping to complete the Club Sport build and possibly fire it up a week from Saturday. Should be an exciting August!!! It will be SOOO nice to have 3 of the 4 running & drivable. Been a long time coming.

Recessed combustion chamber is part of it...keep in mind, engine is canted at a 45° angle when installed. I think it looks funny in the above photo because it's straight up and down...
This is a different motor (the one going into the Club Sport), but gives you a better perspective on what it looks like all put together and in approximate orientation...

...and IN WITH THE NEW!
Installing the flywheel // S1 K26 Turbo
Dropping in the new motor.
After dropping it in, I was able to get the entire exhaust system assembled and installed (what an intricate puzzle that is!). New clutch hydraulics. Bolted the front suspension back up.
All that's left:
- starter
- clutch slave and line
- radiator and front of cooling system
- CIS
- A/C
Add oil. Add coolant. Prime fuel system. Prime oil system. Fire it up. Hopefully by Saturday...

This engine is my custom "long rod" setup. Basically making lemonade from some lemons that Diamond delivered to me...931 pistons with the wrong pin offset...they gave 'em to me at cost, so I had Crower make up some custom rods to make up the difference in pin height. The result is 8.7:1 CR (was supposed to be Euro-spec @ 8.5:1). The head has stock sized valves, but has been ported & polished and is running a Stage 1 grind based on the now-defunct Integral Cam profile. It has a Series 1 K26 turbocharger and stock US-spec wastegate, so boost pressure will be ~9-10psi. I also installed a dual-blade crank scraper.
All told, this motor should be very similar to...if not slightly hotter than...the stock Euro spec 931 motor, which put out 175BHP. I'm hopeful that it will approach 200BHP, but frankly will be happy if the thing just runs as good as it looks!

All that work and no intercooler? Why not use a 951 intercooler? Cheap and effective. Lowers intake temp which will increase engine life, never mind HP.
