fuchs wheel size question
I don't know much about offsets and so on, so here is my question:
I currently have some 17'' boxster wheels install on my 944turbo, 1986, with huge spacers, front and back. Size is 7.5 (front) X 9 (back)
I feel like these wheels are not the right fit for my 86, the look is too new for the car.
I found a guy who is selling some fuchs wheels, here are the specs:
front: 225/50 R16 (mag width 7'') lip width 1''
back: 245/45 R16 (mag width 8'') lip width 3''
he says they where for a 911T (don't know the year).
Will these fit good on my car? Will I need new spacers?
That is all the information I can get from the guy.

The offset should be stamped on the back of the wheel. Should say ET and then a number, 23ish, if I recall the early offset correctly. But I don't think they ever made Fuchs in late offset so it should work.

If they are off an 911 Turbo, I think they are going to rub the calipers. The 951 Fuchs 16x7 and 16x8 were 23.3mm offset front and rear and the lug nuts would recess into the spokes which they don't do on the 911 wheels. The 911 16x8 Fuchs were 11mm offset I believe. Not sure on the 911 16x7.
Like PKT1213 said, the offsets will be stamped on the inside of the spokes. Will also have the Porsche part number.

You should be fine with any of the early Fuchs, they all early offset so will fit any 944/951 to 86. You might require some small spacers for the 911 Fuchs as they are a different offset, just to make them look right. If these were were larger widths from a widebody 911 you may have issues, but they are not. If they were you would be spending a lot more money for them!
BTW there are now genuine Fuchs for late offset cars in 19". Be prepared for sticker shock though: http://www.wheelenhancement.com/inde...lDetail&id=281

Is that the front or the rear wheel, they are different offset on Fuchs. Up to 86 944na used 23.3 for the front Fuchs and 10.6 for the rear. 951 used 23.3 all around. 10.6 will fit the rear of a 944na but not anywhere on a 951.

Carrera51 might be right about the caliper rubbing. It seems that the 7x16 size was made in two variants with the same offset. The one for the 951 had additional backspacing to clear the calipers.

i've never been a big fanatic of fuchs wheels. but i had a chance to see a fuchs display at the P-car dealer today. and not a big fan of 19 inch wheels, and i'm not sure they would ever be appropriate for a big 944 or 968, but, the fuchs wheels in this size look great. they're the nicest--evar, and i'm now a full convert.

Eric,
Stop.....don't buy them as they will not fit your car......any 911 part number (except 9" off a 930) fuchs will rub you breaks....unfortunately they were made one year and one year only.
You need the 951 Part Number ones as Ernie Posted as the backside of the black pettles are slightly different to accomodate the 951 brakes (also why 911 guys coveted them to go on the front of their early offset 911's and that drives the prices up)....ask me how I know.....see below of before (left) and after (right).
Also, be prepared to spend $800-$1,200 for a set.
PM me if you need more info as I did what you are trying to do about a year ago and can ricite the offsets and differences of fuchs by heart....especially for the 951.

I just came back.
The offset was 10.62 all around.
The rear ones where nice, but the middle part of the front ones where repainted with a can, I could see some damage underneath the paint. But all lips where ok.
Some toyo tires on them, probably 20% left.
the guy didn't wanted less than 800$ for them. I tough for the condition that is price was a bit high, considering also that:
- I would need new tires
- I would need some spacers all around
- I would need to refinish the front ones (sand blast & powder coat), heck, at this point why not the the rear ones also.
- I would need tire installation/balacement/alignment
So I imagine that total for all of the above wouldn't be less than 2200$.
Is that really worth it for used Fuchs?
Should I keep searching and try to find some in better condition, with better tires already installed?

feeew! that was close. thanks Scott. I offered him 700$ and he didn't wanted to because he had somebody else coming to see them.
That would of been another useless costly expense for my 951 : )
