Default Looking for some BayArea wrenching help

Hey 'Listers.

I'm picking up an engine from a local P.Car parts seller today/tomorrow and could really use a supervisor on this project.

There are so many odds and ends that I'm tired of screwing up on, I am willing to throw some money/food/beer your way for some help.

I've put everything I have into this car. (just sold my mixing console, xbox, microphones, books, laptop, rx7, multiple guitars, etc to pay for parts/engine stuff) And I can't afford to screw this up.

I would really appreciate the help, and would be eternally grateful for the support.

What help do you need? I have a little familiarity with these motors and am always happy to return a favor...

p.s. I sold a twin turbo rx7 a long time ago and moved to the 951 -- never looked back (well, rarely looked back, it was a nice car...)

I basically need someone who can point to things and say "That should go there" or at least let me know what I'm not doing right before I screw up putting this thing all back together.

I'm going to be putting an engine AND transmission back into the car, as well as replacing the clutch (while I'm there) and am trying to tread as lightly as possible doing so.

Are you installing a running motor, or building a motor?

I'm going to be installing a running motor. . . .at least that's the idea. . . I'm picking it up from Parts Haven. They're selling me an 87 924s long-block for my 85.5 944.

How soon are you hoping to do this? I am considering a trip to SF in the next few weeks.

Otherwise, you could try contacting user "Mongo", he was a 944 guy and lives in SF.

I have indeed pulled the old engine and tranny (ring and pinion blew) and my baby is very far off of the ground waiting for me to put working parts back into her.

V2Rocket: I'm hoping to be working on this as soon as I get the engine, as I move so So Cal in a few weeks and need to have this car running or I have to throw it away. However, please hit me up when you are out here, because I'm ALWAYS looking for cool car people/944 people/ porsche people to chat with! ^___^

Oh sweet! Any chance you're going to CSUN?

Anyways, I'll let you know if I do end up going to the bay. Otherwise, if you can figure a way to get the car to SoCal with you, I'd be willing to help you rebuild it down here. Lots of rennlisters in the greater LA area.

No CSUN-ing for me. And I may take you up on that, as I'm fairly sure that even if I get the engine in before I move, I'll still have lots of work to do before it's road-worthy.

Well, I got the clutch aligned, and the block bolted back up and the TT mated proper to the block. But now I am having trouble remembering where all the wires went.

Does anyone happen to have a late model 944 in the bay area I could look under the hood on?

I have a 968 and a 951, I don't know if that helps you, but you're welcome to take a look.

Pick n pull in Richmond has an '87 you could look at (or take parts from haha) for $2 entrance fee, just an idea.

If you don't mind me asking, what did they charge you for the engine?

Spencer, hit me up if you come up to the bay, if you have time. It would be cool to put a face to a name.
