Default Door panel confusion on 1983 944na.

I am looking for interior door panels for my 1983 944na.

The first picture, is my current door panel.

The second picture is a panel that a guy wants to sell me that he says is out of a 1983 944. I see the same panel when I look on ebay.

Do I have the wrong panel? I looked behind my panel, and there is no place to mount a speaker behind the cutouts.

Can someone help clear this up for me?

BTW, I like my current panel better, and would like to replace it with the same thing.

Mine was exactly like that. It's standard on the 83 944 when the 4 speaker option was not ticked when the car was ordered. A million bucks says you have a single speaker under the center grill. Also you door does not have speaker cut outs. You won't find those panels anywhere. I have a set but I idiotically cust speaker holes into them. Ohh well.

Exactly , some early cars did not have the 4 speaker option so the panels were without holes. Also there were 2 types of panels with or without the big porsche script on top, the ones with the script are somewhat rare. If you can i suggest you repair yours.

924's had the script panels without speaker holes and the 83 I had had non script, non speaker panels. Not sure that 944's ever came with the script panels from the factory...???

jeryst, those are rare door panels, please don't cut them. If you want door panels with holes, buy door panels with holes and sell those super nice, super rare door panels to a collector/restorer (like me haha).

Those porsche script panels come on the market from time to time, usually with speaker holes, so if you really wanted to retain that script look, just wait a while and keep your eyes open.

I dont want to cut them, because my car doesnt have speaker holes in the doors. I was just looking to replace them because they are not in that great a shape.

Guess I will just try to patch them up and keep them until I run across another set.
