When I bought the car it had 205/60 15's. I put some used 215/60 15 front and 225/60 15 rear. I have a 86 with 15x7 phone dials. Now my question....
I ordered some Falken Ziex ZE-512's 215/60 15's, and when I went to look at them they seem to run kind of narrow looking. If I ordered the 225's will I notice much of a difference? I wanted to run the same all around, but theres just so much gap in the back. My old 225's in the rear don't look bad. Anyone running the Falken Ziex ZE-512's? Any pics? What sizes?
I'm going to eventually run 16's as they actually make decent tires for that size...
Thanks!!

When looking for tires, remember that the section width (205's, or 215's etc) is not the same as the overall width of the tire. Not all mfg's use the same measurement method, and can vary up to half an inch in overall width. (ie you can have a 225mm wide tire that is anywhere from 8-8.5 inches wide)
Also becareful upsizing the width without taking into account the profile (50 series, 60 series etc) Simply putting on a 225/60/15 from a 215/60/15 is larger in diameter so it will affect your speedo, and your overall accelleration.
My advice to you if you want the widest 215 tire available is to read the stats on each brand of tire in the size you want, and look for a tire that has the widest overall width. Tire rack has that information if you know to look for it.

I used to run the 512's in that size. Good tire, they look narrow but they grip well. I went through 2 or 3 sets of those. The only problem I had was I wore through them too quickly; either they are too soft or I drive too hard...

I'm not sure the Tire Rack's widths are "real" widths, on ones I checked for my truck they were just calculated from profile % and section width. There are too many variables to say what width a given tire will be when mounted, on every conceivable wheel. On 235/75-15 truck tires there can be an inch difference in actual rolling diameter between brands, on the same wheel.

Tire Rack doesnt sell Falkens. Im not worried about wear, they would dry out before they wear out. Damn early offset 15's..... I'll put the 215's on and see how it looks, then go from them. I'll post pics when they're mounted. Thanks guys!
