"Torque is King"

This reminds me of the saying: "what do a 600hp, 800hp and a 1200hp Toyota Supra Mark IV have in common?.....A 12 second time slip!"

There is a limit, where you can't put the power down properly, and the car becomes a "screaming rocket of death" and the car is no longer any "fun" to drive.

The magic # on the X-member is 0.750" line-bore at the control arms, just did my 3rd one.

I agree and figured the 5.3 was the way to go, and am now wondering if I can get 295's up under the rear without rolling the fenders.

I think a well done V8 swap is really cool. I like the idea a lot, but my turbo mill is still fun to drive. In my old 924 I would have loved to have an LT1 or LS1 in it. I really thought about doing the swap to be honest. Props to the guys who do a good swap. I hate the 350 carb'd setups. Granted its easier, but to me makes the car look half *** or older than they are. With the LS1 they look like it was supposed to be there. The LS1 motor looks very modern day. I wish I could do a newer hemi swap(mopar guy) that would be awesome.

Now that I have a 944 turbo I want to get that magic 300 HP number and just keep it that way. I love the way the engine and all that is. I drove a LS1 GTO for the first time. I liked it and it ran pretty good, but I think my Turbo would give it a decent run. Granted the GTO weighs 1000 lbs more than the 951.

My problem right now is the torque tube. Once that is sorted out I will be a happy camper.

HEMI + 727 + Ford 9"=Straight drag car.

0.75 allows plenty of material around the new hole and does not cause interference between factory control arm and upright lock nuts. At 1" drop you have to grind a very small amount of the upright locknut after the engine is set...BTDT

And you have to clearance the control arm bolt head/washer areas....

I think 170 is good for me. 200 is for small aircraft LOL.

Don't forget to slot your upright holes back 1/2" and you won't be hacking on the hood at all

he's answering my question about the 968 roller he found at Oklahoma Foreign and told me about last night... since the engine and bay is burnt up, it seems like it might be a solid candidate for a track car swap, but may be too much damage to be resurrected as a street car.

btw, Eric's long tube headers and oil pan arrived.

Nice headers he builds , damn skippy. I'm just curious if you'll even need to drop the X-member at all on the 968 as the hood slope is different than the 944/51. Either way you have the option.
My spacers don't even look as pretty....

haven't some of the 944 guys simply moved the throttle body forward and around the 90 degree bend on the inlet tubing and over to the driver's side corner?

I've seen one guy do it here and it is all CUSTOM intake fabrication. I'm not sure if he even used 1/2" X-member spacers anyways. Your custom serpentine set-up that puts the truck alternator above the driver's head won't allow for that contraption anyways.

I'm more curious what MPG that Escalade DOD motor would knock down with the swap.

thing is, with the insane money they're asking for all the pullout motors on ebay, most with transmissions we don't want, i'm not that thrilled by used engines anymore. not when for less than a grand more i'm in a new engine from either Crate Engine Depot or these guys now selling their crates on Ebay for $5,900.

That's about as plug'n'play as you can get. Sell those stock manifolds off to the 57 Chevy crowd for alot of beer money.
