was working on the 944 tonight and i came across this sensor. it has two terminals but there is only one wire hooked up to it and it looks as if the terminal on the end of the wire has been replaced with a single wire instead of a double wire.. unless its only a single wire to begin with. car is an early build 85 with a 5spd. here are a couple pics:
and also while i'm asking, is this little guy the windshiled washer pump? and if so, where is it supposed to be? its zip tied to the p/s fluid resivour and i want to clean and paint it and put it back where it goes:
First pics like JakeS2 said is your TPS ,but you got the wrong one for your early car,it should only have 1 wire conection on it ,part # is 047-919-501A-M82 (check Pelican)

ok, checked pelican and they are saying that its a coolant temp sender. so is that the sender that send's a signal to the gauge or to the DME? for reference, the temp gauge works fine.
I swapped a motor from an '86 into my '83 and the early cars are wired for a single wire connection, late cars use a 2 wire, I picked a terminal and hooked it up, temp works fine. Somehow you got the sensor from a late car, perhaps it's a late engine.

not sure if its a late engine or not. its had some head and timing work doe to it based on the plethora of new and used parts that came with the car. any way to tell if its a later engine vs an early engine?

i'll hold off on buying it. looks like a sender of sorts, not a tps.. perhaps the sensor is working properly..engine temp is fine, idle is solid (high at 1200 rpm) and engine pulls smoothly to redline.

Well I'll say if everthing is working fine don't bother changing it ,why tempered with something that work. Are your fans working good?
