redline heavy shockproof is weight. It has some wierd multi weight deal and listed as "heavy shockproof". Do a seach and you will find it.
Years ago I asked a 951 racer and shop owner what to use. He told me to use this stuff. He used it in his 500 hp 951 racer. Seemed like a good idea at the time to use the same stuff.

This was overdue but i finished the gear job the other day. Thanks to those helpfull links !!!!
Here's a photo of the tail end off the tranney in the car. Yes i did the swap without removing the trans from the car. but I also have my spare tire hump setup to be removeable.
Will find out next weekend how the new gear works when i head to putnam park !

Thanks M758 for the extra pics. Yesterday I removed my NA tranny from the 948 and took out the 5th gear .7297 (37/27). Then I opened the rear of the 951 tranny and removed it's 5th gear .829 (35/29) and replaced it with the NA taller gear....
I can't add any better pics to the gear swap procedure than what you guys have done, but did come up with a way to hold the input shaft while the large 12 pt star nut was busted loose with a breaker bar under the rear cover...
I actually have a usable 1st gear now. And Hiway cruising is awesome.
Before with a stock NA trans in 5th I was running 3250 RPM at 70mph
Now with 951 trans and NA 5th I am running 2750 at 70mph

Be very careful using the shaft clamp to hold the input shaft. They will break the clamp block, either the weld or the block itself at the relief cut. I broke one, and a friend broke one the same way doing the same thing.

Can't see it in the pic, but I also tightened the clamp bolt down on that side. You're right, if you just slip on the coupler without tightenening, then the coupler splines could jump/strip the input shaft splines....good point.

Not an issue with it being loose and/or jumping splines, the clamping block is not designed to carry any torque load. It is only tack welded to the sleeve.
Mine actually broke the block, and my friend's broke at the tack welds. Both could be replaired by a good TIG welder. But much better to clamp the end of the input shaft in a big vise with soft jaws (alum, brass, or other).
