Late to the party, but thought I'd share. I have an '84 w/ 2.7 - no aircon, no powersteering.
I got curious once. It will (slowly) climb all the way to the top of 5th, and gently bump into the rev limiter, on a straight, flat (long!) airstrip, 235-240kph indicated = near as damnit 150mph.
Not likely a 2.5 could do even that, and to be honest it's not the point of these cars, the point is the grin you get every time you see a sign like this;

with the scrubbing of the Endeavor, i just drove the entire length of i-26 across parts of the Blue Ridge and Cumberland mountains. like 500 miles of 'epic' and reached 3700 feed at one spot. then, where I-26 ends, national-23 begins with tons more long smooth curves, giant ravines, river gaps and mountains all the way to I-64. if you all get a chance to drive this route, don't pass it up !
