951 oil in J boot.
I have noticed that my j boot in my 86 951 has been oily since I got the car. I thought turbo, but under full boost there is not a trace of oil in the exhaust. I had the car sitting for two weeks and on start up it smoked oil for maybe a minute. On removing intake parts I found a lot of oil in the j boot and it had blown through the intercooler pipes pretty heavy as well. After it was gone the car smoked no more even under hard boost. It does not smoke after sitting overnight, but sitting for several weeks the lower intake piping seems to fill with oil. What would cause this?

well if the aos seals were bad it would be leaking on the side of the motor. The problem is under boost the motor pushes oil vapor past the aos and into the j-boot where it connects- then it goes through the turbo, intercooler etc and gets burned. Most turbos do this although it gets worse when the rings are worn etc.... Many people put in a catch can for this reason.

I put a Saiko catch can in about a year ago - finally checked a few weeks ago when I was re-wiring my MAF...it had about a half cup full of liquid in there - it was certainly more gas than oil - about 1/3 oil.
So, it's cleary catching something - but in my car it wasn't much.
