What different in camshaft for 968 & 944 S2
Please help! I want to order a new, I have 968, I found on the 944 - 944.105.277.07 and 944.105.275.09, but at 968 - 94410527709 94410527510 And what's the difference? Visually, there's no difference, but it's in the photo, compare them to the reality of not being able.

I don't know if this will help ,but here are the camshafts PET number for the 944S2 and the 968_____944S2 "intake cam 944-105-277-07____exhaust cam 944-105-275-09 / 968 "intake cam 944-105-277-09___exhaust cam 944-105-275-10.Not 100% sure but I don't think they are the same migth have something to do with the number of teeths on the camshafts.

Variocam?
Anyone have a tech spec booklet for the 968, I am looking at the specs for the S2..
M44/41
Intake opens 3deg before TDC
Intake closes 40 deg after BDC
Exhaust opens 36dge before BDC
Exhaust closes 4 deg before TDC
These are slightly different timing than the 944S (M44/40) cam timings..
I would expect similar changes made for the M44/43 (44) motors, As they added variocam into the mix.

1. 968 has variable cam timing
2. 968 has 39mm intake values, S2 has 37's
For an engine of the same displacement, both of those things would drive the S2 to have more lift and duration. You would likely not be able to tell the difference holding the two in your hand, much less from pictures!!!!!!
Having said that, putting a 968 cam in an S2 wouldn't be that risky. However, if you were to put an S2 cam in a 968, you'd be putting your engine at risk for piston/valve interference. There is NFW (No F***ing Way) I'd do that without a whole lot of knowledge.
Why don't you just order the right cam in the first place?

Well, I can't answer the question directly, but the engines have two big differences that have a HUGE difference on cam design.
1. 968 has variable cam timing
2. 968 has 39mm intake values, S2 has 37's

If Webcam say both 944S2 & 968 camshafts are the same ,could you please ask them why they carry different PET numbers and if the numbers of teeths on the 944S2 & 968 camshafts are the same.

You do realize a camshaft isn't like a fan belt, don't you? A cam profile change can have a HUGE difference on the torque curve and total output of an engine.

Intake opens 7.5deg before TDC
Intake closes 52 deg after BDC
Exhaust opens 31 deg before BDC
Exhaust closes 1 deg before TDC
968 Torque timing (with Variocam activated)
Intake opens 7.5deg before TDC
Intake closes 37 deg after BDC
Exhaust opens 31 deg before BDC
Exhaust closes 1 deg before TDC
You can see that the 968 are geared to top end power without Variocam. The Variocam increased the midrange torque by reducing the intake duration. A 968 cam in an S2 would perhaps increase the top end but leave a huge hole in the midrange torque.

S2 came have a different number of teeth on the gears compared to the 968, because of the vario cam. Also they spec out differently, in lift and duration, again because of the vario cam
