Default ID of '86 NA torque tube shaft????

Does anyone happen to know the inner diameter (past the chamfer) of the torque tube at the engine end? I have the engine out, however the drive shaft itself makes it virtually impossible to measure with the calipers I have. I'm wondering if anyone happens to know the measurement, or has the ability to measure a tube without the drive shaft in it.

Basically I need a very accurate measurement to make an adapter plate for an engine swap. I would like to use the inner surface of the tube to center the adapter plate, it appears the 3 dowels on the back of bellhousing were used to center the stock engine. (it's hard to get much from the 3 dowels since you can't directly measure diameter from 3 points of a circle)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yep, and trig day one was a long long time ago. Thanks for the link though, I've registered for that forum, looks like lots of great info even though that's not the type of swap I'm doing.

Lol, no powerstroke!! (not a diesel... not a gas...)
3.05" (77.47mm) sounds about right, I was getting around 77mm with my crude measurements.

If you could easily confirm I would be very grateful.

alcohol-fueled general electric turbine engine?

hydrogen-powered BMW V12?

nuclear submarine?

Ironically you were pretty close with the last one.
But I'm going to use batteries instead of a nuclear reactor to drive my electric motor.

Instead of dicking around with the dowels, measure the bellhousing circle it fits into...

I hope you're going to have some controller that limits torque output at low RPM!

I do indeed, power delivery should be smooth as butter. It's a 300V 1000A DC controller.

You were correct, a nice "sticky" thread at the top containing a C5 adapter plate that had exactly the information I was looking for.

To make this thread useful for anyone else searching for this information, the thread is located at:

The torque tube ID is 3.0312"

Thanks again!
