Default 924 exhaust

Gents,

First time posting on the water cooled side of the forum for my own purposes, so here it goes.

I am going pick up a recent purchase I made a while ago this weekend in the form of a 1981 924 Weissach edition (don't know the production number yet). I am getting the car pretty cheap, so it is with some issues. Everything is sound, but two PO's prior had tried to put weber's on in place of the injection system - needless to say he could not get it to work. The guy I bought it from just didn't have time to work on it and decided to sell it. I can't resist a old sports car, and the price was right.

He has the injection system for it, which I will put back on. The one thing that he did sell off of the old girl was the exhaust system. Here is my question -

Does anyone here either have, or know where I can get, a reasonably priced exhaust manifold?? (I have other plans for the rest of the exhaust)

No laughing at her as she is without her front bumper (present, just not on the car) but here is the obligatory picture with the first post.

Thanks in advance!!!

Awesome, thank you!!!

I am usually over on the 964 side, so this water cooled stuff is new to me. The Most under appreciated Porsche's I think!!

Cheers

did this car have a cracked manifold? if so, i believe i nearly bought it last time it was for sale...

i still have some pictures that may identify it. if it is the same car, a portion of its life is documented over on 924board.org and i can get you in touch with the prior owner.

thirdgenbird -

That would be awesome! The car does not have any of the exhaust components, PO said they were sold, so I can't say what actually happened to them.

I have not been up to see the car, but the price point was a win win situation even if the car has too many issues. I will have more info after this weekend.

Did the engine look like this - talking about the red header.....

Just made it back from Florida, and I do still have that stock 924 NA manifold available. Shoot me an email or PM if you have any questions!

Yeah, as far as I know, that was the standard interior for the WSE cars. I've seen similar material in other cars, but the only ones I've ever seen with the two-tone like that were the WSEs.

Sadly, that is the same car. The guy who sold it to me used the top picture you posted, along with several other very nice pictures, to advertise the car. Since I was a few states away, I largely based my decision to purchase it on those pictures. But, it turned out that those pictures were about 5 years old, and the condition of the car had gone downhill quite a bit in those 5 years. I was less than amused.

......and the "tuning" that it needed turned out to be a head gasket.

Oh well, lesson learned about long distance vehicle purchase.
