got the cage finished up welding wise tonite. Pulled the windshield my self- good thing i have a spare- and got to the rest of the spots i couldnt reach. Then i cut the passenger door out to match the drivers side, just need to clean up the rough edges and strip the insulation paper off the inside of the doors. Hopefully i can get some primer done this weekend.

For the paint scheme, I have a (biased) suggestion. The link below is a partial picture, but certainly distinctive, easy, and fun. Black, yellow, and red for the german flag. We just punched these out on the vinyl printer. easily removed/replaced.

Dibs on the speakers. PM me a payment method - how about $30 shipped?

Looks great. Have you thought about tieing the cage to the "A" piller?

i thought about welding the cage to the a-pillar and b-pillars but the way this cage is installed it already is tight against the roof in six places. That and im too lazy to cut out the pieces i need to weld in...it still could happen.

i want that cage.
but i have no reason for it, besides looking like a badass on the street.

did you use a wire for the windshield removal?
or a cold knife http://img.alibaba.com/photo/2832148...mover_Tool.jpg ?

i work in the warehouse at safelite and the techs say you can take out a windshield without breaking it but it can be a bitch. depends on the car too.

taped up the floor in front of the seats on each side tonite and sprayed it w/ black bedliner spray-from a can- so hopefully that will hold up to abuse of traffic.

I cannot pull a windshield to save my life. My glass guy has pulled prob. twenty of them for me and never broke one.

Dan: Speakers arrived today, excellent price, shipping and packaging. Perfect for my project THANK YOU very much. You project is coming along nicely as well, that car looks like it has good bones.
I am looking for a good 2.5 engine assembly(44/7) 86, 87 or (preferably) an 88 high compression for my 924S. If you have a line on anything let me know.
Thanks again
Scott

did some brush painting on the race car tonite. Painted the roll cage w/ some Chassis Coat paint that i used on my suspension in the past. Turned out damn good and was easier than masking off the whole car to spray it.

been working on my dash for a few days- thought i would share the progress. Got some brakets made up and welded to the cage to hold the sides of the dash- then cut the dash around the bars and built a center braket that will bolt to the center of the dash and the tunnel and keep the center rigid.

did some changing on the dash this weekend and ended up cutting the center out where the HVAC controls would be . I have a braket welded into the car that fits right into this spot and will hold the switches etc for the wiring. When the dash is removed this will stay in place- so the only thing keeping the dash from coming out will be four bolts and the wire to the lap timer.

Painted the dash this week- sprayed the center black, then used a rubber matt to make a CF design w/ silver paint across it. Then i sprayed taillight tint over that. Today i taped that up and sprayed the dash w/ bedliner spray. Had to move the lock cylinder forward an inch or so to fit into the new hole in the new dash but it fits great, which also eliminates the steering lock.

Painted my brakets to match the rollcage w/ some grey chassis coat and sprayed the center braket for the dash to match the CF pattern. Almost close enough to start wiring and mount the dash for good.
