Default Electrical Question: 944 vs 924S

Now I've gone & done it. I've rebuilt my '87 924S motor and it's now ready to be reinstalled. But, I can't figure out where one electrical connection goes. My question is: Is the wiring harness (at least the one connecting motor components (e.g. Speed Sensors, Idle Speed Control, Injectors, Oil Pressure Gauge & Air Mix/Intake) the same for 944's as is for 924S'?
In that same sub wiring harness, there are two connectors with 2-pin female receptables w/ spring clips. One connects to the top of the block. What does the 2nd connect to?
If I knew 924Ss were similar to 944s, I could look at a 944 locally....as there are no 924S's in my area.

This plug?

I am not sure it goes anywhere on the 924s. My car runs fine as pictured.

Congratulations on the rebuild.
I think I may have the mystery 2 pole connection.
One would go on the DME temp sensor towards the front/top of the block.

The other connection may be for the rear/top intake. I have a 2 pin connector on my '88 that sits on the top/rear of the intake. First picture. To the right side just infront of the light. The tiny bit of yellow is the oil fill cap.

I do not have this connection on my '87. Second picture.

I looked on the PETs and cannot tell you what the connection on the '88 does other than monitor the intake pressure?????

i should have noted that my car is an 87 and i can not find where that darn plug goes. the DME temp sensor is plugged in.

where do the wires lead on the 88. i do not believe i have this. is it possible this was incorporated in some of the 87 wiring harnesses but was not used until 88 on the 924s?

mine is. i can not comment for the OP.

i had a thread about this a while back but no one could answer it. the car runs fine so i quit looking. i find it more than a coincidence that another 1987 924s has the same empty plug.

time will tell.

i think that settles that it is not needed on these cars.

Both the Idle Control Valve (comments by V2 Rocket) & the "...DME temp sensor toward the top/front of the block..." (suggested by John_AZ) are connected.
Thanks all........I'll go ahead and mount the engine & see if everything goes well. I'm so eager to get it going!

I don't know, it would be nice to know why it is there. I have a nagging suspicion it is supposed to be connected because I don't remember having a loose plug when I removed the engine... but, it was the only wire I didn't label, so It could have been lost in the muck.

It could be for the turbo charger electric cooling pump. If it is then forget it unless you have a Turbo.

There's no Turbo. I've attached a sketch of what my wiring system looks like.

Anybody have the wire colors? I'll see if I can find it in the factory wiring diagrams.
