overall, a great job Doc. but seriously, how bout we make a more honest appraisal of our "let's-do-1/3rd-of-the-car-half-asssed," obtuse, automobile manufacturer? if the ****ty instrument panel isn't bad enough, what about the fact that it requires such a monumental effort (NASA) to produce even marginal results once you take everything apart? why in a $70,000 (adjusted for inflation) car? why not do it right at the factory? it wasn't until about somewhere during the latter part of the '90s (Porsche 993 run?) that they finally had VDO make them an instrument panel set up for night viewing !! it's not politically correct around these parts to tell Porsche to "rtfm," but unfortunately, it took them until almost the year 2000 to read the f_ucking manual. this problem went on for the better part of 30 years even in their flagship 928 GTS models built in 1995. these instrument panels could have been recalled (safety), they're so f_cking bad.

Odo you should really get a chevy and ditch your Porsche altogether.
In the world according to you every Porsche needs a chevy V8 and much of the rest of the car is crap so why do you make yourself suffer so badly?

Secondly, we get it. For some reason you don't like these cars. Everyone of them sucks, 944 drivers are poor people who can't afford a real car, V8's rule, TonyG is great, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
Please, spare us. I personally am tired of hearing your ****. Go hang out in the OT section, but please leave us 944 tech guys alone.
Go sell your crazy somewhere else. We're all full-up here.

Firstly, no one is going to recall a car for having dim instrument panel illumination. It's not a safety issue. That's the most assinine thing I've read all week.
