Fixed the cluster lights today
A note to the previous owner, or whoever tried to fix this problem last...
Silver paint is NOT reflective!
The TEPO (The Evil Previous Owner) had spray painted the light tunnels silver.
Had to strip that off and do the tin foil and clear tape trick. Put in the 194 bulbs at the same time. Noticed blue painters tape over several spots on the back of the cluster where the little black warning light bulbs were missing. Nice. Guess I'll get a bunch of those next...
Pulled the car in the garage and OMG, I can actually SEE the gauges with the lights on now!

It's the fourth banner down, it's not cheap, but it's worth every penny!

I had fixed mine with chrome paint and it worked well, but I had already ordered the 9xauto kit. It arrived and I decided to fit it and the results are amazing. Although I could see gauges with just doing chrome paint, the 9xauto kit takes cluster back to what it would have been like factory(I imagine), as I can now use the dimmer and still see gauges clearly. Anyway I think the 9xauto kit is worth every cent

I also had great results with chrome paint and fresh bulbs (about the factory wattage.) It is possible to get really bright cluster lights, but pointless. It's more important that they be adequately bright and dimmable in case of bad weather.
