No more Diehards for our cars?
Went to Sears today to swap out my ailing Diehard battery, and the guy told me they've stopped carrying our size. Anyone else have this experience? Either way, alternate battery recommendations welcome...

It's probably made by Johnson Controls & the exact same as the (cheaper) Interstate MTP-91 and other models.

Gee. I just bought a Sears International battery over the summer. I ordered it on line and picked it up at the Sears store at the Brandon Mall in Brandon, Florida. It's a shame if they discontinued it. I've always liked Diehards, and the fit of the International was perfect for the 951 battery box.

I like the optima because the last one I had lasted for 10 years. Sealed batteries less likely to corrode a battery tray and when an early car sits out, preservation of the battery box tends to be an issue.

I'd think battery box corrosion would be more of a worry on later cars, as the computer is located underneath the battery box! When it rusts through you get water running over the computer!

Believe it is a "Type 41" there are still many made, I bought one at walmart (canada) of all places, branded "duracell" of all things. That was ~10 yrs ago, summer car only sits in the basement for winter. Can't believe it has lasted, will see if it gets the car out of storage in a few weeks.
