Default Lime Rock noise limits?

I want to go to a DE event in April at Lime Rock in CT. I've heard that Lime Rock has pretty strict noise limits, and, for better or worse, my car's exhaust isn't exactly quiet (I have MSDS headers and a 3" Lindsey exhaust w/ cat and Magnaflow muffler). I haven't been able to find any hard dB data on similar setups, but does anyone here know if I'll have a problem? I really don't want to pay the cash and drive up to CT only to get black flagged

Thanks!

I believe 89db is the limit. I'd think if you have both a cat and a muffler, you'll be fine. A completely unmuffled 944 will be over the limit, though. My 944 turbo is unmuffled, and it's border-line - meaning I once in a while get a black flag.

yep.... you must run decent aftermarket mufflers, minimum.

not a big fan of flowmaster products, but their two chamber design and no cats should be ok.

Thanks, that's good to hear. I'm going to do the DE, I'll report back if I have any issues

I am looking into this DE also, does any one know what is needed for your car?
I will have a full Bursch exhaust (header, cat elimination pipe and their exhaust/muffler) hope it passes

I don't know what PDA/NASA requires, but for PCA, you need to be a PCA member with a valid license, need an approved helmet (Snell 2000 OK until July, then Snell 2005 or Snell 2010 required), and a tech inspection performed on your car prior to the event. That's about it.

I also recommend an open mind and expectations to have a good time!

Do it! I did a couple events with this group last year and had a really good experience - I learned a lot and had a blast.

You don't need a lot to sign up - just a SNELL SA 2005 helmet and you'll need to get your car inspected beforehand. You need to join NASA to sign up, but you can do that as part of signing up for the DE online at www.nasane.com

Hi Mike

Won't see you at Lime Rock but hope to see you at other NASA events this year !

I'll echo what Mike just said...I did my 1st (and only) event with them in October and had a blast !

Great people and a very well organized event !

best

Joe

the secret to quieting these no cat exhausts is running resonators. cleaned my straight-pipe system up very well.
