Can you guys look at these pics? It came off my car this way. I'd like to repair it all and reupholster it but I don't think this is the way it is supposed to look. Anyone have any good pics of one that I can duplicate?

WOW... replacement panels can be had, or you can try to recover it.. just make sure you use a real 3M interior trim spray on adhesive... or leave it to a pro...

the panels in both my late cars are thermoformed plastic, not vinyl wrapped fiberboard... I am assuming this is off an early 944, as both mine are late cars...

Sorry guys. It's a 1987 NA. My issue is I don't know how to go about restoring this without knowing what it's supposed to look like. There's a big indent in the panel where your head would be in the car. Is the upholstery supposed to be flush against it, cuz right now is just loose.

Yes, I'm watching those there now. But I have to give the local upholsterer a shot at these. It's all about the money.

I believe so.. I can check next time I fiddle *** around in one of them..

Could be wrong.. never had a problem with either of them, now the vinyl wrapped header panel BEHIND the sunroof, both mine are basket cases...

OH BTW, here is a pic of what its supposed to look like...$302.47 from 944online... a pittance compared to what I just spent for bits and pieces due to leaky seals and a bad head gasket! (>1K in bits and pieces.. not to mention head rebuild and PS line rebuild...)

The dash and A-pillars are thermo-formed plastic. The sunroof panel probably is too.

well, after all this time, sunroof is in. All parts boughy, upholstered and hardware is brand new. Realized PO had disconnected the motor in the hatch to avoid dealing with the sunroof.

After all I've been through on this, all tests indicate the following. When raising the sunroof, the lifting cable buckles near the driver's lifting arm and thus keeps the sunroof from raising. If you press up on the cable against the roof the roof upons and closes like it is supposed to.

Any thoughts on this? We've come this far - just a little further to go!

Have you tried looking at Clarks-Garage.com for step by step info on the sunroof operation and troubleshooting. Here is just one section but the website is full of everything you need to know about your car.

Yes, I found the headliner on ebay in absolutely perfect form. After browsing through all the threads here was able to piece together why mine was so messed up. I looks real good now with all new parts, screws, hardware, etc. I am wondering if this buckling in the lifting cable has to do with a torque adjustment, too much or too little.

I'd still like a saratoga top instead!
