I'm on the east coast but no where near NY.

I live in Paradise, Newfoundland in Canada.

How did the spray on go down? Did you do the trunk area also?

Any more tips and hints would be appreciated!

I will consult this board for help along the way. Lots of good info.

Mine won't be all original either, but it will be clean and solid.

Newfoundland ehh, ya that's a ways from Windsor.

There can't possibly be many 944's on the island?

Quick question, I was thinking of going out there for the Targa race, how long is the boat ride?

Sounds like you have a solid plan for your early 944 best of luck!

There are two ferry's that run to Newfoundland. Both leave North Sydney in Nova Scotia.

Option 1: Dock in Port aux Basques. Ferry ride is about 7 hours and then you have a 10 hour drive to get to St. John's.

Option 2: Dock in Argentia. Ferry ride is about 12 to 14 hours and then you have a two hour drive to get to St. John's. This ferry only operates in the summer.

Here's a link to the ferry.

Judging by your trunk area I would clean and lightly respray. If the car is straight and never been wrecked I would not worry too much about rust unless it has been exposed to moister for a prolonged period. It is a full galvonized body. The cheapest HP is losing weight and dding things like bedliner make the car that much heavier. The 83 is a little lighter car and any extra weight you add just defeats the purpose. I have taken a lot of weight off of mine and it makes it a lot more fun. Tune it up well and get the weight down and they are fun cars. I have just as much fun driving the 83Na as I do the 968. Big power difference but I just love the classic sports car feel and vintage interior of the 83. If you think about it, the car gets close to 30mpg and get over 125 mph top speed. Those are #s that rival a lot of cars today and we are talking almost 30 years ago. Have fun.
