Post Huntley Products

Hi everybody.

As you may already know, I own a 924S, with the lovely spun #2 bearing problem. as disgruntleing as it is, I'm gonna repair it, and have the 924S again, as opposed to selling it and getting a 951. (but I will be saving money for one ) ANYwho, I was looking to either outright buy, or if it can be repaired, have Huntley Racing repair my crank, and cross-drill it. but before I spent the money, I wanna make sure I'm spending it on the right thing.

DOES THE CROSS-DRILLED CRANK PREVENT THE #2 SPUN BEARING? I don't wanna rebuild this engine a third time.

Also, does anyone in here use their higher-compression cylinder heads, camshafts, or superchargers? are these worth the money? I want more HP!!!! well, lemme know. Have a good day everyone, and Happy driving!

Cheers,

I have a ton of HR products, and they're building me a motor too. The cross drilling does prevent the #2 bearing from oil starvation. On my "under construction" motor, we took it a step further and gun drilled the rods and the crank appropriately to allow oil cooling for the pistons.

Porschephile, what kind of mileage you have when it spun?

Shaved head definitely gave it much more power and especially torque. Definitely do it if you have the head off and get a valve job while you are at it. The car spins tire through 1st gear and half of 2nd - not bad for an 84 with 200k miles. It is the cheapest mod I can think of for the n/a. Cams are expensive and give little more power as far as I know. A larger diameter will give you more power at higher rpm for not much money.

Check with Lindsey, Gomes, Miledge, Vision, Technodyne, Anderson, or SFR .... before you settle on "go fast parts".

lesse, the first time it spun, about 112,000 miles. The second time, 5,000 miles (on the engine). I built it, so the warranty is my checkbook. I took it on the track about 3 or 4 times since the rebuild though. Possibly over-revved it. so, the spinning was my fault. I did the "add oil" prevention, which doesn't work. but, as most mistakes with this car, it's an expensive one.

What is this gunn drilled rods and crank? how does it work? whats it do?

Are you sure about the gunn instead of gun? On the Pauter web site, the EDM process is called "rifle" - which would relate to "gun". The HR website says "gun". Carrillo says "forced oiling" Perhaps we should just say "wire EDM" from now on to get rid of any confusion.

oops.. that was indeed my mistake. I was referring to a "gunn tap" not a "gun drill." But if you do a search for gunn drill it does come up under that spelling.
Who knows, the gunn tap thing was just something an old tool maker corrected me on once. He explained it in much more detail than that but its just one of those almost useless facts that you never seem to forget.
