968 Door Handle Parts List
#1
![Post](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/icons/icon1.gif)
I know there was at one time a list of all the parts needed to perform the 968 door handle swap. I printed it off and bought the parts to do the job but has since lost the print out and am not sure if I still have all the parts. I did a search of the forum and found a really good installation manual but no parts list. Does anyone know where to find this parts list that I speak of?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Try <a href="http://www.951motorsports.com/968DH.htm" target="_blank">here.</a> Good Luck
Edit - You probably had found it before, Keith probably has the list somewhere though.

My site does not have a parts list as I bought my handles used and simply "transplanted" them. But the other Keith gave these numbers awhile back...
944.537.661.04 G2X Door Handle, Left ($65.00)
944.537.662.04 G2X Door Handle, Right ($65.00)
944.537.611.00 Rosette, Left ($18.00)
944.537.612.00 Rosette, Right ($18.00)
944.537.621.00 Base, L (gasket) ($4.00)
944.537.622.00 Base, R (same) ($4.00)
944.537.631.00 Base, L (small gskt)($2.00)
944.537.632.00 Base, R (small gskt)($2.00)
944.537.671.00 Control Lever, L
944.537.672.00 Control Lever, R
944.537.655.00 (x2) Tension Spring ($1.00)
944.537.243.00 (x2) Clinch Pin ($1.00)
Also, if I were doing it again, I'd get the following, although they are certainly optional - it just saves a lot of disassembly headache:
900.309.041.00 (x2) Pin 2x12mm
999.218.079.02 (x2) Screw M3x5 self-locking
The 3x5mm screw you MUST have. I got mine at a hardware store, but it would have been better had I had the correct part, and in terms of labor hours, it is a waste of my time to scrounge for a 50 cent screw...
Hope this is what your looking for.

All of the parts for the 968 door handle conversion will cost you $178.00 Plus shipping from Sunset Porsche NEW!. But now here is where it gets tricky! The Locks! If you have an 86 or newer 944/951 your locks are a direct swap between your existing door handle and the 968 door handle, no rekey is needed.
But if your car is an 85 or later than your locks are not. I ran into this problem with my 84. I went ahead and purchased all of the required parts except for the locks to perform the swap, only to find that the lock cylinders were not removable from my style of door handles being older than an 86. SO I was pretty pissed off about this. I then called Sunset to find out how much 968 lock's are since I needed lock's. Or even lock's for an 86 or newer 944/951. Yeah $170 a side for 968 lock's and about $80 for the newer 944 lock's. And yes you cannot just purchase the locks seperately for the 86 or newer 944/951 door handles, you must buy the entire handle assembly in order to get the lock assembly! But Porsche will gladly sell you just the 968 Lock's without the entire door handle assembly. Isn't that some ****!
So I then began my search for some broken door handles with good lock's at various bone yards for a 86 or newer 944/951. After about 60 minutes of calls and callback's I was linked to a place called 9th Street Auto. These guys were great, they new exactly what I was talking about and they sold me 2 broken used handles with good lock's. Cost $40.00. Oh and Yeah, PartsHeaven or any other big name lot wanted big buck's for good used handles, especially the driver's side.
I then had to rekey my new, or used locks to my existing ignition key. This was easily done, since the tumblers were interchangable between my old lock tumbler housing and the newer style lock tumbler housing that would be found on a 86 or newer 944/951. Just remember to do one tumbler at a time!!!
It turned out to be a lot of messing around, but it was well worth it. Get rid of those VW handles!

Thanks guys..that was exactly what I needed. I'm still looking at how to spend my $100 PCA certificate. I thought I might get some rear shocks but the dealer cost is so high that even with the certificate I can get them cheaper from Pelican or Paragon.
