The 951 is making a funny noise?
I finally had a chance to test out the car on a dry day today. in 5th gear on the highway, i floored it. a little after 3000 rpm it makes a sound as if the tires are spinning , i dont think there is a signifigant loss of power after that, but there maybe some. I just got the car back and it has a lot more power than before due to guru chips and ported head. It makes this sound in all gears, and it seemes to be coming from the rear of the car. Does anbody know what that could be. Is it the clutch going, is it cvs. It could be coming from up front but i really think it is coming from in back.
TIA
-John
PS i dont smell any burning clutch, but i also dont know what that would smell like, what would it smell like.

I have heard that if the slip is bad enough, you could tell by pressing on the accelerator and brake at the same time, and looking for an increase in RPMs. This didn't work for me.

It hasn't even been a day...have a little patience....
If you think it's rubbing tires to the body, then go to the back of the car and check...there should be obvious wear marks.

Does the pitch of the noise change with the RPMs or with the speed of the tires? If so that would tell you if the problem is before or after the transmission.
Grab a buddy, put the car up on jack stands (or a lift) and gently accelerate it, when the noise starts track it down.

Once you smell it, you will not forget it. The best I can think of is the smell of hot brakes.
Does the RPMs jump when this happens? You say it happens in all gears ...at the same RPM?

at around the same rpms yes, i dont notice any jumping, again it is very damp here, i dont think the rain will ever stop. When i have more time i will check these things better. I dont notice a change in the pitch. when i shift in the higher gears like 3-4, 4-5 at higher rpms it seems to peaqk out and almost poP, i want to try replacing the BOV as i have not run 15 psi before, so maybe it is this. thanks everyone.
