944 Chassis Swap Photos! :)
This was done several months ago. A couple years ago, my brother bent the frame on my dad's '87 944S. It had 69K miles on it and the interior was good. I purchased an '86 Turbo rolling shell from Brian (xupkid2) last fall. I began the process of doing a chassis swap. I didn't work on it everyday or anything like that, but I did take a lot of photos (more than i will share).
The red car is the 944S which has a bent frame. The slate gray car is the shell. You can see how things get transferred over. all in all, it was a blast taking the car apart and only breaking a couple small body bolts. The 944S motor got new belts, new timing chain, and new chain tensioner pads along with many other new things. It will be for sale this spring along with my 951.
Here are some of the photos of the swap.
Enjoy!

I really like the all black interior on a silver car. It just took a while, but it wasn't very hard. The hoist helped a lot. I bet I could do it a lot faster if i had to do it again and if I worked on it everyday. I lift would make it go faster too. Doing anything on jack stands is difficult.

Congrats on a great job. We had to do a similar job shifting all the running gear from an '89t to an '86t and it's not nearly as easy as it might seem. You've done it nicely. The only thing I'd change is the rear turbo badge panel.

Very nice. The car looks great. That's a lot of work. I'm in process of a similar project (rear ended 85.5 to 86 951 shell).
Won't be done for quite some time though. We just bought a farm and still need to build the house and garage. The good news is that at least one lift will be installed. That will make the work a lot easier, as you have dicovered with the jack-stand juggling act.
There are a couple of things on the new car that caught my eye. The tires, the turbo badge and the door sill panels. "Sport coupe" with the prancing horse? It's looks a little funny on a Porsche. The tires might have a couple laps left on them - and the track had better be dry...
Great work!

Forgot to ask - what kind of paint did you use for the intake manifold and the valve cover? I like the black. I figure I will paint my wheels and valve cover to match (black or graphite). Or as close as I can get the wheel and engine paints to match.

it was just 500 degree duplicolor engine paint. As for the tires, they came with the shell and are better than the 23 year old stock ones. The door sills were also on the shell. I have judt left the turbo badge on for now.
