Default How wide are your Tires!!

Recently installed a new set of Forgelines, 18 X 10 in rear and 18 X 8.5 in front. Someone said they had wrapped 295/35ZR18 tires...Those fit? I have 265-35ZR18 now.....way too small.

I'm now having regular 225 front 255 rear (R888's, so little wider than mentioned). planning to start using 255 all around, with little lower profile.
Don't think there's real benefit of wider tire at least in N/A.

225 8" et 50 fr 295 10" et 65 rear. Bit of rub on the rears but a fender roller or a grinder could solve that.

im running 18x9/10's and 245/265's since these are the sizes Falken 615's come in, but ive run up to 285's on these wheels. I ran 295's on 11" wheels before but they were tight- mostly because of the wide wheels. Try to stay as close in width front/rear as you can- that usually helps balance and eliminate tramlining on the highway.

No rubbing or fender rolling needed...

On my 968, I run 17x9x275" slicks all around for autocross and twisty tracks.

My buddy Joe runs 295 hoosiers all around for his autocross 951, dropped even lower than my 968. That's pretty much the limit for the front of our cars without getting spacers and/or wider fenders.

315's on the back is no problem.

everyone is fanatical about running super-wide rear tires.... our cars are not 911s. the secret to controling the understeer in our cars is running the widest possible front tire you can stuff in there. i'm running just a slight stagger.... dunlop 9000, 255-35-18s front, 275-35-18s rear and with those heavy rotors and calipers, some unsprung weight is added, but they add an anchoring effect when running on good asphalt... the car handles ridiculous....

i don't race, don't know much about racing, but i know Tony G. runs ultra-wide front tires.... like 315s in front !!

and 335s in the back or something like that, and as you all know, there's basically, no car out there that can beat him.

^ I've been saying that for years now. There is a definate and detrimental increase in how heavy the front end feels due to the increase in unsprung weight, but that is greatly outweighed by the increased front end bite.

For a non-competitive car, I would keep a narrower front tire, in fact, my street tires are the stock 17x7.5" and 17x9" setup (215s and 255s)

Rich, I'd like to think you could run 315s in the rear but I think this would be going over the limits, no? I've run 285/295s Hoosiers A/R6s on 10" all round but that was having the front fenders rolled and modified. Now with slicks I can only fit 265s on the fronts mainly due to the taller rolling radius. I'd love to fit 285 Hoosier R80s up front and am going to try, but this will limit how low the car can be run AND reduce castor. Running max castor works well for these cars on slicks. A 285 Hoosier slick is a jump up in size compared to the A/R6 versions.

would be nice to know ET of the wheels in addition of wheel width, because it actually defines how wide wheel you can fit in there. I had 265 rear with ET44 and it was quite the max that the car could handle (there can be 5-10mm difference in rear axle placement depending on how rear links were built.).

in front, 235 with ET67 was rubbing already inner front fender when in full lock, so added 5mm spacer to fit wheels better. now it is quite nice.

what is the "optional" ET for running wide wheels? My initial guess is that in front it is something close to 52-57, and rear 55-60?

(ET measures in mm)

225 front and 285 rears, no rubbing although had to add 8mm spacers to rear because the rear suspension is shifted towards the drivers side IIRC. Strange cars.

295 18x11, rolled quarters, koni coilovers and 968 adjustable sway bar with little to no rubbing. Then again, I don't have an aggresive stance.
