Post Lifes decisions!

I got an old motorcycle from a friend back last June. I ran great but I could never keep it running right. I've probably put on about 50 miles altogether since then. So, I've decided that I'm going to right that one up as a loss and buy a new bike. I've found two great choices at a local dealer and I'm looking for some input from other motorcycle enuthisiests.

The two choices are:

1998 Suzuki Bandit

1200 cc
5k miles
black
$5k

2000 Suzuki Maurader

800 cc
750 miles
black
$5k

Both bikes look incredible. I can't decide which one I want to buy. Does anyone have any experience with either of these two bikes?

PS. the pic of the bandit is only a 600.

If you want a crotch rocket, I am selling mine. Contact me if you are intrested.

The only experience I have had with road bikes is the Yamaha V Star series. 2 old roomates had them, both 2000 models. Nice riding, little power. It was a total toss up.

Now.. you could go for the new R1 road bike, cannot remember the name right now. Once I get the bug to ride again, I might ****** one up.

What do you want to use it for? For 5 large you could pick up a nice BMW K75s or R bike. Both are great riding bikes and as fast as you really need unless you want a sport bike. Coming from a german car I think you'd appreciate the design of the BMWs.

Bump da bump...

I've had some good discusions over at Pelican so far. Their has to be some more motorcycle riders here!

As of now, I'm really leaning towards the Bandit. I will have to try to talk the price down though.

What other bikes should I consider for around 5k?

Thanks fellows. Lights out here soon, gonna storm!

To tell you the truth, I never looked into them. I will look around the web right now. I've always thought they were exspensive. Just stereotypin though. Do you have one?

I learned to ride on a 1976 R80/6. Just a great bike and they go forever. My buddy had a 1987 K75S which was smooth and fast and looked cool as well. Other bikes I've ridden have been a '86 Kawi KLR600 enduro and a 1971 KZ-1 and 1978 KZ1000 - the original muscle bikes. You won't find a 1998 or 2000 BMW for 5K (well you could get a F650 click here) but I'd rather ride one with a few miles on it than a new japanese bike, kind of like how I'd rather have my S2 with 110k than a late model Civic.

Nice!!!!! I like this one better then your original choices. I will hopefully be getting a 2002 Ducati 748R in a month or two myself.

Good choice man, I'm glad you kept looking. I think you'll enjoy the katana. Alittle more sporty than the bandit, but still pretty darn comfortable. Enjoy it man.
