Turbo S KLR chip

I installed a performance DME chip and raced the car earlier this month. No problems with overboost. Car ran very well with the new chip, although a little rich. Boost, (according to the stock gauge) was normal. I'm running a Lindsey wastegate, only a few years old, no shims or messing with the bango bolt. No leaks in the system that I can detect at this point.
Basically, swapping out the DME chip fixed the problem. So, I'm back to my original question, which is, with a different DME chip, will installing a Turbo S KLR prolong or increase the boost on a 26/6 car?
Oh, good point on Limp Home vs Overboost. I'm pretty sure it was overboost related to the DME since a new chip fixed it.

Stock dash gage is not accurate enough to determine +/- 1 psi, which is enough to trip the fuel cutoff on the factory DME chip.
The clubgate is why you are hitting the overboost protection. It is PCA legal, but does run higher boost than the factory WG. I have two of the clubgates and have done bench testing to determine opening pressure and valve travel compared to factory WGs.
Technically, if you want to follow the intent of the PCA rules, you cannot put a Turbo S KLR chip in a K26/6 car. But in reality, its unlikely that the Turbo KLR chip will increase boost much, if any, over the stock KLR chip when still using the 26/6 turbo. I am not sure the cylcing valve mapping on the factory KLR chips vary significantly.
The boost onset is slightly later w/ the K26/8 than the 6/6 (approx 500 rpms), but I think that is more due to the characteristics of the turbines, than the chip mapping. And possibly the same with the boost level above 5k rpm.

Purpose of seeking just a stock S KLR chip is to maintain compliance, should he end up running the car as an S, rather than a non-S. I have a spare 26/8, so that is a pretty easy option if we want to go there. The difference is the weight penalty, but the car needs to lose a lot more weight to hit the minimum for the non-S, so it might be easiest to turn it into an S.

Found another KLR chip (1267355138) this evening but it appears to be an early one after reading these threads.

Josh,
Yes, the 1267355138 is an earlier one. That number matches the stock KLR that I have. They are 24 pin chips. All the responses I've got back indicate there isn't that much difference. I'll flip flop chips next time at the track and see what the difference is.
