To the original poster: What have you added? bigger brakes? swaybars? wider tires? Larger exhaust? They would all add weight.
Not sure on the gel battery weight, but my optima yellow top I can hold in the palm of one hand compared to a normal battery that I cannot.

I added roll bars,turbo sway bars,fire extinguisher,strut tower brace, camber plates, but i also did away with the heavy front struts for some coil overs and the sway bars were the hollow type.

Then the scales that me and my friend go on are garbage because that's what his cars weighs and it's stock just a head unit no system

Either way, a car under 3000lbs is light these days. Compare that to some of these fatty cars like the Challenger, new Camaro....

the correct answer is....
I am looking at a 1986 Porsche 944 sales brochure that I got from my local dealership back then.
Curb weight ... 2778 lbs.

2900 sounds much more realistic... haven't heard of any preludes that weight that much. That's like SUV/Truck weight lol.
