I was looking at an 86 944 na in FL that owner said had 78k on it. From the pictures it looked rough so I ran AutoCheck and found out that in '96 the car had 122k on it! Owner says Carfax says the title is clean with no problems. He sent me the Carfax and sure-enough it states no problems. However, the only data Carfax had was emission testing data with no mileage listed.

I have used Carfax before until they wouldn't allow me to re-subscribe. Guess they don't want my money.

Anyone else have stories of different results from these two companies?

Last time someone offered to run a carfax I thought I'd get in on the action myself. But they never replied. So, I went to carfax and tried to purchase a copy but they turned down my AMEX! Keep in mind that my AMEX has no limit (although I'm sure they'd balk if I tried to get that new twin turbo) and I'm current! So, I'll wait until someone else offers and spend the money on something useful - Like a Rennlist membership!

I own 2 87 924Ss. Both of them have been repossed and or sold at auction. Neither of them show that history. Are they supposed to? The one with 214,000 miles only shows one sale and that is it. The other younger one shows a couple registrations in New Your then a transfer to Florida, and a couple of inspections.

Just what is it supposed to say? Oh yeah, both had some sort of body damage. Minor, but there.

For "research" purposes, I went to both sites, both offer a "free" search (the search is free, viewing the results will cost ya ). I entered the same VIN in both, Autocheck had no records on the car, Carfax had 7. I didn't $ to find out what though.
