Post Suspension

Just got my "Porsche Certificate of Authenticity" and wondered what the difference is between having option 404 ( upgraded sway bars) / 474 ( sports shocks ) and the M030 suspension. can anyone enlighten me?

Cool

I too am curious about Option 474 (sport shocks) as well, since I have that same option code. When I physically look under my car, I see that my shocks the Black (Boge/Sachs) shocks. I thought that the sport shock option were the Green (Bilsteins). I believe that the M030 is the Koni Sport Shocks (Yellow). I hope someone could fill us in with more information.

Thanks. Great question.

Same here. My 87 951 has the sport shocks option code (474) and the shocks are yellow. I was also wondering if this relates to what anti-sway bar is installed, as I'm needing new bushings.

Dug this one up while researching the 404 option. The guys origional question was never answered and was something I was curious about myself. Any takers? Oh one more thing, was 404 an option across the whole 944 line or did it ever come standard on some models?

never heard of 404 code. 474 was sport shocks (konis as far as i know). my old 951 had that option

m030 is the whole suspension package - stiffer springs, shocks, and upgraded sway bars. do a search on here and you'll find all you want to know. or go to www.clarks-garage.com

I believe that the 404 option was just bigger sway bars. Then you have the sport shocks as the 474. I think that is it but I'm not 100% sure. The M030 I think has even bigger sway bars that were not available when the 404 option was or just bigger in size then the 404. Anyone that knows for sure?

I've heard the 474 konis aren't as aggressive as the M030 (not as stiff) but I have no idea on the sways.

What's the best price on replacement Koni's for option 474 ? It seems like only Pelican even mentions it as an option.

what the difference is between having option 404 ( upgraded sway bars) / 474 ( sports shocks ) and the M030 suspension. can anyone enlighten me?
M404: heavy duty sway bars: 25.5 mm hollow by 4 mm wall thickness front bar, 18 mm rear bar. Essentially the same bars as the M030 option and the stock 87/88 951.

M474: Koni struts/shocks. They are not externally adjustable (the rebound dampening can be adjusted after removing the strut from the car.) These are different units than the Koni coil-overs that were used starting on the 1988 Turbo S M030 uspension.

M030: Full sport suspension package including stiffer springs (160 lb/in front, 25.5 mm rear torsion bars), Koni shocks and heavy duty sway bars.
