Post Help - shipping options on big package

Okay, I need a package for my p-car to come from Illinois to VA, but it's big. 6' X 6' X 3' and about 100 lbs. UPS said no. How do I get a package from there to here? Will the USPS do it? Or anyone else? Thanks

If you can get it down to 53"X74"X24" and keep it under 100lbs. you can ship it on a greyhound bus, terminal to terminal , very cheap.

Question

What are you trying to ship? The reason I ask is UPS told me that they could not ship my front seats...then I folded them forward and they became within their limits (that's the key for sending seats). Maybe if we know the part, we can help you w/the configuration.

Try <a href="http://www.cratersandfreighters.com/" target="_blank">Craters & Freighters</a>. You can get quotes to most places online.

I have shipped a 944 hatch through them and they were by far the cheapest (other than Greyhound)

Be forewarned that they do not insure packages that they do not package themselves and they charge a lot for packaging.

I'm trying to ship a rear hatch, no folding that can be done there

And I checked that web site, they don't ship to VA, or even into DC, just Maryland. Thanks though

Will keep looking, and check to see if it'll fit with greyhound

Talked to FedEx, and they were transferring me around, until they transfered me to their Freight dept. and I got hung up on. I just called MailBoxes ETC, and they said they'd do it, no problem. So, I'll be calling the guy in Ill and telling him to drop it off at MBox Etc.

You should be able to get that rear hatch into a lot smaller package than 72" x 72". Like maybe 48" x 60". Which will still leave you with a dimension problem though as I pluged the smaller numbers into my FedEx ground calculator and it came back with too big.

There are trucking companies that specialize in shipping furniture around for cheap without wrecking it. Give a local furniture store a call and see who they use. Or as noted Greyhound might work if you can cut down that size.
