Finally got around to painting the engine bay (BEWARE PIC HEAVY)
Made a couple of block off plates to keep crap from flying up into the engine bay, removed the no longer used mounts for the power steering, coil and abs module...primed and painted!

i used aluminum foil to wrap the wires and anything near the body, just so i wouldnt have to use as much tape. plus, it gave a good seal around it. but good work though, it looks very clean now. update use with the pics of the engine inside of it.

hehehe, yeah man...the exhaust is actually giving me trouble right now though...seems broken motor mounts cause many more problems than one might guess.
to Ross, it's actually just off the shelf rattle-can enamel satin black...it's not the greatest quality stuff, and i probably should've used something better, but this is easy to repair, cheap, and this looks a helluva lot better than it did before!

very nice, i did mine black with spatter paint, didnt put clear over, i suggest you use clear, i now have the engine out and have to sand everything off and smoothen it all out. I think I will stay away from spatter this time and do satin black or just flat black and clear. The clear will make it more durable. How much time did you spend surface prepping? ie , cleaning and sanding only. how many coats of primer and paint?

thanks, it was days of prep, 2-3 coats of primer, 2-3 coats of paint (not real thick though). Next time i pull the motor out i'll do something a little more high end maybe...i dunno, motors already in and staying in for a bit, so for now it will stay as is...will update with new pics ASAP

On my truck I was going to use generic paint for the inner fenders, but sprung for Eastwood's Chassis Black. It is one of the best paints I've ever sprayed (using a gun). It is hard as nails, totally resistant to oil and gas. And as advertised, it "looks right"... if you want black.
