Post KC Maintenance Party

Topic says it all... I am open to suggestions as to when and where, otherwise I should be able to make arrangements to get us a garage with a lift. I would like to set this up as a monthly event if we have the interest. If nothing else, you guys can laugh at me as I struggle with my cars! lol

Please let me know if you are interested, when you would be available and what you would like to work on. These are some of the sessions I would like to set up:

-General Tune Up (Oil change, radiator flush, dist, plugs and wires)

-Belts/Water pump (Saturday session, so that if anything goes wrong, we can fix it on Sunday)

-Brakes/Rotors

-CV's

-Wheel bearings

-Fuel Injectors

Anything else anyone wants to work on? Some of the sessions will be multi car work sessions, others we may just focus on one car, depending on the activity planned.

I can be reached at sh944@rennlist.com, or at 785-550-6165.

Regards, ...Scott

Thumbs up

Hey Scott,

What a great idea. I really wish I could join you.

I spent all morning yesterday with my mechanic doing odds and ends like changing the top cooling hose, alternator drive belt and rewiring the fan switch on the '83. At least the weather was great and we were outdoors working in short sleeves...

Are you moving to the Caribbean anytime soon?

Wish I could, especially when I go outside and see car windows frosted over! lol But I thought you were moving back to Europe permanently?

I'm in, although I have a 7month old-so my time is odd. Weekends are better for me, but I'm open to anything. Phantom309 was looking into some sort of get together--this would probably be a good catalyst to do that. We can work on the cars, bench race, and then head down to Free State.

Are you in Lawrence?

Hey all.

I don't think I need an oil change or belt redone anytime soon, but that's no problem.

However my rubber center in my clutch just went out. And along with the torque tube assembly (or at least the bearings). It's making that odd moaning sound from time to time.

I need to get this done very soon and I was going to have JP Werks do the job. They quoted me a ballpark of around 1300 outside of any work on the torque tube. Not bad I think. I've always been impressed with the people there and the work they do.
I'd rather not burdon anyone with this kind of project. And it would be nice to get it back in a few days instead of a few weeks.

Anyways weekends are usually better for me too. If I don't have anything else going on I might just hang out.

Indeed, that's the plan, but it seemed too far of a move for you, whereas the Caribbean sounds like a more convenient area for semi-retirement, eh?

Count me in on any KC are maintenance Party. I'm to a point of parking my 87 944s due to a bad clutch. Anyone with a heated garage?

Curses to those fat fingers. My car is obviously an 87 vs a 97.

Okay, I am taking down your names and will distribute information about this as soon as I finalize the details.

Biggest news to report is that I have secured a sponsor to support us. Ian's Europarts (954-968-3766), Rennlist sponsor, has agreed to give us discounted pricing on parts we order for our maintenance parties, provided we give him a heads up on what we will be working on, order as a group, and give him enough lead time so that he doesn't have to expedite the order! Thank you, Ian! Anyone who hasn't ordered from Ian before, let me assure you that you won't find a nicer guy to order parts from, and his prices and delivery are top-notch, so be sure to thank him for supporting us by giving him a chance at your other Porsche parts business as well.

I do know that Ian would be happy to support others if they want to organize the same sort of thing. Contact him at 954-968-3766 if you have questions.

With all the NE Listers, I can't believe you couldn't get something going up there as well. If you need help trying to get it going, let me know and I will do what I can to help.

Just to update others on my clutch. I'm taking it to Stephen at ImagineAuto. I'd actually feel better about my car there then JPWerks. But that's just a personal preference.

k, I am going to assume everyone that wants to be included has posted or contacted me. I am going to compile a list of the names and set up an email distribution list. If you don't see an email from me by Friday morning, feel free to email me directly at sh944@rennlist.com. Tentatively, I am thinking our first session will occur Thursday, Nov 21st from 6:30 - 9:00pm. I would like to get everyone together and figure out what everyone wants/needs to work on before we try anything massive, so the first session will be limited to oil changes and safety checks of everyone's car. The second session will be scheduled for a Saturday, when we can have more time to tackle something of more significance.

Feedback, anyone?

Regards, ...Scott
