Jeeze, you would think sales people would wise up. Back in 98' I stoped into the Charlotte,NC Porsche dealer (Hendrick) to buy some parts. On the way out I thought I'd check out the 986's. The only one they had was in the showroom and it was used but nice. After walking around it a couple of times I asked if I could sit in it. The sales "man". said ; uh.. it's locked. Hell the top was down!?!
Well I was about 45 at the time (turned 50 today wahoo). I guess people with pony tails and earrings don't qualify! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

LP, you need to dress like that and go to Beverly Hills, hehehehe!
Actually, I would love us to get even with a dealership, such as have lots of Rennlisters show up at their dealership, all dressed as bums, but driving their precious Porsches! That would keep them wondering, big time, heheheheh.

Julie, do you get the same thing I do? I've grown up with cars all my life (my dad was a mechanic), but most service advisors go through this "don't worry your little head about it, we'll take care of you" when I try to tell them what the car needs. I guess I just don't look like a car person to them, I'm mid-fifties, short, etc. Only two dealers, one an Acura and the other a Mercedes/Alfa (we had an Alfa) have ever treated me like a knowledgeable adult. The Porsche dealers - I've been to 4 different ones - are the worst.
I found a wonderful independent who actually discusses cars with me! He also encourages me to watch while he works on the car, and asks my opinion. No more dealers for me.
My daughter (18) hasn't had any complaints at the local Ford dealer, she researches on the web and goes in prepared. This dealer seems to get it, they just changed hands and for a long while had a sign that read "New Management - New Attitude!"

A friend of mine who breeds Arabian horses went into the Lexus dealership late on a Sat. night driving a 15 year old pickup, bib overalls, horse**** on his boots and his wife dressed in a similar fashion, they just finished the stalls late.
For 20 min.none of the salesmen would thak to them except to say that it was closing time, he asked if it was too late to buy a car, and the sales man said it was too late to evaluate his trade and do financing.
My friend said "I'm keeping my truck, I just want to put it on my card, can you take Visa or Amex?"
Judge a book by it's cover?

LP,
If the Boxster was really locked, you should have just tried to open the door and triggered the alarm, nothing brings out the keys faster than a beeping horn in a tile and glass showroom.(I witnessed this while waiting at the parts counter at Sewickly Porsche, another customer casually tried to open a TT's door--everyone must have jumped 10 feet when the alram triggered.)
