Definitely agreed with the "good seats" opinions here. Don't get cheap ebay seats. If you want the best for your money buy the best for your money. You get what you pay for. There are a few things I refuse to NOT spend money on, they are brakes, seats, belts and pads.

Something else to consider.. comfort! not sure how you use your car (ie, 1xmonth or daily driver) but that could impact both the type and style seat you want. Having to climb over large bolsters 1/mo may be ok.. but doing it everyday in a suit may get old REAL quick. Consider how often you fold the seat to put "something" in the back seat area.. then consider if you could live with a fixed back seat or NEED a folding seat.
Also.. SIT in an example before buying (and not just for 10 seconds!). Get a feel for where the bolsters are.. where they rub.. is there enough support or TOO much support in areas. How would it feel after a "long drive" or would it support you enough in an AX for example.

i had the corbeau A4's in my first 944- they looked good and for extra $ they punch a sub belt hole in them for you- they were ok for the first half hour then started hurting my back- and they sat pretty high in the car for me. I have an OMP reclining five point seat i just pulled from my car- bolts right in w/ sliders- very comfortable.

You'll get what you pay for. Recaro is the gold standard and Sparco Evo is another good choice.
A friend of mine had a seam open on a relatively new Recaro, they replaced the seat with no questions asked. Indicative of their commitment to customer service.

Note my post with the photos of my step mother's (a lightweight 65 yo) driver's seat in her 735i after getting hit from behind at ~40mph. IMO you would be crazy to trust your life to some cheap, Chinese made POS. Your seat is an important piece of safety equipment and if it folds in a rear end collision, you will:
a.) No longer be restrained by your seatbelt
b.) Likely suffer a spinal injury as your head and neck strike the backseat of the car
This can easily kill or permanently disable you.

Just put in Sparco Evos and for what I wanted they are perfect; however, if it was a street vehicle I would get tired very quick of getting in and out...it is kind of a PIA. A decent cheap, lighter, and comfortable option is a non competition seat like a Sparco Chrono. I have sat in them a few times and it is a good option. I think they are the standard seats in the Lotus Elise. JM $0.02.

I don't think I saw this mentioned, but I would also consider mounting when looking at seats. Some, like Corbeau and Sparco, sell mounts specific for the 944. If you have to go the custom route, it can add a significant amount to your total bill.

That Corbeau seat looks very good but I wonder what it weighs. Usally when they do not tell you the weight that means it is not much lighter than a standard seat. I am looking for a great looking seat, at a good price that will give me the most weight savings.

I looked around at all the different styles & manufactures... Even OEM GT3 seats. In the end you can not beat the Recaro brand for quality and fit. Love my Profi's and would not change them for anything else.

I run the Cobra Imola 2 in my car, which has been my daily driver all this year. They're cheap as far as a Kevlar constructed, FIA approved seats go and I find them to be surprisingly comfortable.
The Imola 2 is a little wider than the regular Imola. The regular Imola would fit me better for track use, but using the '2 is probably a better choice for the street. Then if you need to, shim the wider seat with padding to get it snug at your waist. Of course this depends on your body type.
In the end though, the fit will come down to preference. Do whatever you can to sit in as many different types of seats. I tried Recaro SRD, they were nice, and I probably would have no complaint if I bought them, but being able to switch between the Cobra and Recaro at the same location, I knew the Cobra was a better fit for me. My friend, on the other hand, preferred the Recaro's fit.

I've asked about Cobra seats when I was shopping for my race seats, without any result
I can't really complain, I ended up with a set of Racetech'ss which are SUPER comfortable
my next seats would be either Racetech's or Recaro's though
