Default 996 GT2 seats in the 951

I was playing around with installing some GT2 seats in the 951 last night. Here are some photos of the seats compared to the standard 951 sport seats in and out of the car.

It was hard to get a good shot while the car was in the garage, so I'll try to take better photos in the daylight later.

I've still got to get the backs painted, but I haven't decided whether to go with black or to have them color-keyed to the car.

Side bolsters actually appear a tad smaller on the GT2s. That right?

Yep. The side bolters on the 951 sports are huge. The GT2 bolsters are not as big, but the grip is fine for me on a street car.

the 951/968 sports seats are more "period correct" for any 944. those look better in the car imo - and incredibly comfortable too.

either way, great looking seats man.

Looks great, I would color key them - bet you would have the only set in kalahari beige!!

Pretty much bolt-in?

Hard choice to make when both sets of seats are so good looking. I would guess it comes right down to just how each set feels to you comfort and support wise.

Cheers,

Every time something new is bolted on, I go back and forth whether or not I like the aesthetics of the original Vs the new. The original seats are more period correct, but so many parts have been updated and swapped that I don't know if there is a single period category that it falls into anymore.

While I loved how much more the 951 sports gripped me into the car over the standard 951 seats, the sport seats are very soft and 'squishy' with the vinyl covers. The leather offers some stiffness that translates into a more supportive seat.

I'll probably have the backs shot in Kalahari Beige. As Sam mentioned, it would be pretty rare, but it won't do much for their resale should I decide I don't like them anymore. I just hope it won't look overdone.

Installation is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. A little customization, but nothing any worthy owner should fear. The seats are not too tall, and there is plenty of clearance between the seat and steering wheel (actually about 1 inch more than the 951 sport seats). Just another of the many RL myths that have been spread without experience.

The 'No Man's Land' car is a go-kart that I picked up last year for my son to grow into. Okay, that was just an excuse for me to get it and play with it, but the wife bought it, so it worked. Here's a link to the original thread: HERE

i think the 993 and 996 sports seats would be better in an S2 or 968.

the 993 guys helped me to identify this seat.

How are you dealing with the front mounting hole?

I like! Paint the backs black.
BTW nice interior (new shifter boot, 930 wheel, 10 spkr doors). With those seats you have exactly my dream interior.

The front bolts are passing throught the first hole behind the metal bracket that must be bent upward to be flush with the rail. If you use these holes for the front bolts, the rear mounting points line up with holes in the rail.
