Default When does ABS kick in?

So on my morning drive to work I almost bagged a deer. I stood on the brakes, was able to slow down, then move into the other lane to avoid the deer, but it got me wondering...it is wet here in Oregon and while I was in the brakes fairly hard, I didn't feel/hear the ABS kick in. I know some of the racers run with ABS still, does it take more braking than I though to kick it in?

If you didn't lock up, then you didn't reach the abs threshold.

ABS isn't going to do anything unless a wheel locks up, as it should.

If it was wet you should have locked them up easily. Find a safe spot (empty parking lot) and get on them. Make sure they are engaging. If not, I would get them looked at ASAP....until you do remember you are the ABS and pump!

Next time, wait later before braking for the deer.

Thanks. Maybe I didn't stand on them as hard as I thought.

To test the ABS, try braking on a dirt surface, hard, and in a straight line. Or, better yet, wait for it to snow and try it then.

Bring it over to my house Darren. Sounds like time for your lesson in threshold braking... and I am MOAR than happy to help
