Post 1k miles too soon for retension?? DE soon!!

I have 1,000 miles on the new timing and balance belts. I am doing 1 or 2 days at the track memorial day weekend. I think I should do the retension before the DE even though I won't hit 1,500 miles yet. What do you think??

I can't think of a reason not to check. What have you got to loose?

Im at 1250 miles and havent had mine retensioned yet. Shop said 1000 miles but 1500 shouldnt be a big deal either.

How about just driving another 500 miles real quick before the DE so you can check it at 1500 miles <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Cheers!

My last belt came with a reminder card that the shop put in the bin under the radio, it gave the mileage at the time of replacement and a message as to the results of not retensioning....at "2500 miles".
I've heard different numbers from different sources for when to retension but 1500 is the lowest. If you do it now, you might want to do it again at 3k or so, once the belt has streched the rest of the way.
