Default Quick suspension questions

Hey guys, I've got two quick suspension questions:

1.) I have an 86 944 NA, I was wondering if any modification would need to be done to attatch a 951 front sway bar to my car.

2.) I'm debating on whether or not I should get Weltmeister 250lb autox lowering springs for my car. It's a road car, I do some "spirited driving" and s a little AutoX here and there, but it's mainly a road car that I want to lower. It has OEM replacement struts (did that in March) and I was wondering if I would be hurting my suspension by adding stiffer and lower springs.

Thanks

Get the bar. Then get the rear to match. It's a good upgrade

I am upgrading my '86 NA with 951 sways at this time. I can tell you if your car came with standard sways (option 404) it is a direct transplant. If your car did not come with standard sways I can't say how much mod you will need to do. If no one else answers this part of the question soon send me a PM and I can take a look at my '86 parts car that DID NOT come with standard sways and see if they came set up for them from the factory. Hope this helps.

do you have a rear sway? mine didn't, only a 20mm front as standard. I bought a 26.8mm front from an S2 and a 18mm rear from a turbo and new bushings all round. such a different animal now! if you don't have a rear sway you need all the mounting hardware to fit it.

I put a 951S bar on my 87 N/A and it made a world of difference.

Hello Hobbs, I just bought a Sway bar that was on a 89S2, 27MM and looking for a rear sway bar right now to add to my 85.5 NA. The car is still in rebuild stage at this time. I am going to install Boxster Seats that I bought. Have to figure out the wiring first and drill a couple mount holes in the rails. Just been too hot for me to work outside, but the weather is great now. Give me a call local 218-2387 in the evening.

Cheers,
Larry

Larry, I just spotted a 19mm M030 bar for 75 bone in the US. I'll try to pull it up for you cause the thing looks new...

As said, all you'll need for the rear is the proper mounts and a couple bolts. Bigger front and rear will change the whole dynamic of the car.

And those springs wouldn't be bad for the street (not much over stock), but depending on how low it drops you might be scraping in driveways and stuff. You will def want to think about lowering the rear... and upgrading torsion bars soon after to avoid too much understeer.

I have 250# springs on the front and lowered the rear to match on my '89 NA. It's a good upgrade for the type of driving you describe. It's not too rough on the street, unless the streets in your area are total crap. I wouldn't hesitate for a minute.

I upgraded both the springs to the Welt 250#'s, have koni's all around at full stiff, and put on the 944 turbo S sway bars (28.6mm front, 18mm rear) originally there was no rear bar. After all that I got an alignment, and now the car is absolutely great for road driving and Autocross. not too stiff at all. I plan on upgrading the torsion bars to match the front spring rate as soon as possible, and after that I need some better tires (not all seasons) before I'll be able to do any better.
