Default Burnout questions

When I do a burnout I leave two black so I know both tires are hooking up, but I do not have LSD. Does that sound right? Also, how many of you can do a rolling "clutchless" burnout in 1st gear. I get the car to about 4000rpm then hit it. Car has airbox mod, promax chip, and race exaust using 91 octane pump gas. I have not been able to do it yet in a straight line but just a little turn of the wheel will get the tires to break loose in the 968. Not something I do everyday but can not resist sometimes.

i dont think a 944NA will be able to do a rolling burnout, only chirp the tires or leave the pavement black from a stop..it will chirp in 2/3 gears if you shift fast enough.

the 968 has a full 100ftlb more than the 944..

If you are pointed straight ahead and on a uniform surface, an open diff will put equal power to each wheel, until one wheel has somewhat less traction.

try taking some weight out the back of the 968 and putting your tire pressure up a little...lol

Suddenly this thread makes me think about clutch replacements.

I would think a true rolling burnout would be easier on the clutch than popping it for a burnout, besides it sounds like a clutch in a 968 is pretty easy compared to the 944.

Yeah, this is true :-/ Once mine is done, I will likely weak up in the middle of the night breaking a sweat from nightmares of replacing it. I will have post-traumatic-clutch-syndrome.

Oh! ya clutch replacement is easier done on a 968 than on a 944 ,beside it's only $762.74 for a 3 pc clutch kit & those guys will love to sell you one. plus of course labour if you don't DYI the job so lol just keep doing some burnout.

Ernie, I am trying to get a comparison of how many cars in the 944 class can actually do this. I am not some kid who does it three times a week. I have done it a few times to get a feel of how much performance the car actually has. If you do not have an answer to one of the original two questions why do'nt you take care of your car and do not tell me how to take car of mine.

Think it's also largely dependent on what type of rubber you're running. On the Formula, I'd be able to break traction for 2 gears by just going WOT suddenly. Changed to BFG KDW2, and it will squeel for a little bit through first, but then hook before I shift to 2nd.

And that's with 320 rwtq and 3500 lbs.

Temperature also has a lot to do with it. Cold tires on a cold road will make it much easier to do a burnout.

Yeah, put some 195/65's on the back and I'm sure you can get some smokin' tires..

Running the standard 225/50/16's. They are a Falcon Zeix brand, do not know anything about them but they apear to be a good tire. Temp was about 60 F, tires warmed up with 1/2 hour of city driving. As far as the LSD question, so the LSD is mainly for keeping power to each wheel when corning and does not make much difference in a straight line takeoff?
