Question Suspension Lowering

I have a pair of Koni struts with 200lb Weltmeister springs that have a 1 ¼” spacer to maintain the stock ride height.

I’d like to remove the spacer and lower the front end by 1 ¼”, but I understand that would require me to lower the rear end too.

My question is, how much would I need to lower the rear end if I remove the spacer up front?

Does the amount that the rear needs to be lowered be equal to the amount the front is lowered?

The reason I’m asking is that the rear may not be able to be lowered without re-indexing the rear torsion bars and that is a major pain in the ***.

But, if I can lower the rear by adjusting the eccentrics in the rear suspension I may not be able to lower it to match the front.

If the front and rear do not have to be lowered equally what would be a good ride height front and rear?

If you have experience lowering a 944 I would be interested in your advice.

Thanks…

If you are intersted in looks, by all means remove the spacer and reindex the rear. The eccentrics are usually good for 3/4" lowering.

If you are interested in handling, DO NOT remove the spacer. These cars handle best at stock height.

I've forgotten the numbers, but I thought the cup suspension was lower than stock. Surely that would have been to improve handling?

How do you figure that?
Why do none of the 944 spec or cup guys run stock suspension height?
~4inches from the rockers has been found to be the optimal height for the performance...

Is that 4 inches from the chassis rail or the jack point "cups"?

WHY? I can see stock ride for street only, but for street/track, why not run cup suspension (if you got it) and cup height?

lowered? its slammed

the car drives great, handles well, and looks fantastic. i dont think its quite as low as you think though. the 924 fenders are shaped differently and it makes the car look pretty low. (17s dont help either)

sooo anyway. Yes, pull the spacers- drop the eccentrics as low as possible. See if that looks ok and handles well. It usually does. If the rear is too high well then you may have to reindex but usually its ok. Done it a few times...

That's why I said handling and not lap times. Completely different, as any good race engineer will tell you.

The nubbies under the car that you use as jack points. You know, the nubbies.

What does reindexing the rear end mean? BecauseI have 250lbs springs that I was going to put on that lowers and inch and ahalf. Plus I'm getting lower sidewall tires for my 15inch phonedials.
