If I didn't have a 951 (no not my avatar) to part out I'd go grab this 968 for $4500.

I am tempted to buy it and part it too, but I don't have $4.5K sitting around.

Guys,
The seller and I have reached a deal on this car, and I'm planning on picking the car up this weekend. I'll make a decision on parting or repairing the car after I have a chance to go over it and maybe have the frame checked.
I've got lots of experience with 928s, but don't know much about 968s. Are there any 968 specific items that i should watch for, aside from the obvious accident damage? The deal is contingent on there being no issues with the engine or transmission.

Thanks!

I originally saw the car on Ebay and was watching the auction; however, I didn't realize it was still for sale until I saw this thread, so thanks guys.

We should do a cross border 944/968 GTG somewhere in VT, NY or NH would be fun. In the spirit of free trade and all

helping with an audit on behalf of a guy who wants out of a limited partnership. he's attempting to prove one of his partners has been embezzling money... he's got about 1.8 million in potential losses. the guy was an idiot to enter into this business....

it's made to order for inflating operating costs.

after investing, he made the grave error of not participating in daily operations. tragic.

I hope the car gets repaired properly and kept on the road. A 968 coupe is a nice car for sure.

I'm a big fan of preserving rather than parting, and it would be my preference with this car as well. I love this color, and have been looking for a 968 project for a while. Unfortunately, I have a lot of other projects right now, so keeping a wrecked 968 may not pass the wife approval without unloading something.

Once the car is here, I'll take better pictures to get advice from you guys. If the frame needs to be straightened in addition to all the body and paint work, then this will be a parts car. However, it's not obvious from the pics that things are that bad. That being said, the rear quarter panel damage is a problem, and may push the project over the edge. If I do end up parting out the car, Rennlisters will get first dibs.
