Default Heeeeeelp. putting oil in problem

I was putting more of that Redline Oil and I'm pretty sure the inside styrofome of the twist off cap felled in my engine oil reservoir.

What should I do? What's the worst that can happen?

I'm supposed to go lapping tomorrow.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Even if it does find its way to the oil pick-up screen, it won't go through and the screen is large enough that it won't restrict oil flow.

Good question but I'm not sure if 200 - 230 F oil temps will melt it. I kind of doubt it. You could try putting another one in some boiling water and see what happens to it.

that sounds a lot like a product malfunction that the company should, and might, take responsibility for

So far I am 3 for 3 on removing oil pans from 944's and there being at least one oil bottle cap, the plastic ring from a oil bottle, or one of the foam cap liners in the oil pan. I don't know if I would get too excited as one of the 944's had about 120k miles put on it be me with two caps, a plastic ring and and some other plastic junk lost down the filler tube by the PO.

Maybe one of these days the PO will be kind enough to drop a diamond ring down the sump to make-up for all the troubles.

I've pulled out a oil cap and a ring off the cap, but I still have some tubing down in my reservoir too I can't get. I wouldn't worry about it, the screen will catch it.
