Default Replace or fix washer nozzles.

Spent an hour today clearing some kind of buildup out of my washer hoses and rerouting them back on the car. Washer motor sprays like crazy right up until I reconnected them to the nozzles. Should I just replace these or have people had success fixing them (and how?)

When mine I clogged with I suspect wax from waxing the car I just used a pin to stick in the holes and they work like new again.

Now I put painters tape on them when I am waxing the car.

What I do is use a tag wire you know wire that you use to close a garbage bag. I burn the paper or plastic cover off and then run it through you can then grab it and work it back and forth.

If you cleaned the nozzles, then it's probably the pressure regulators that are near the nozzles. If you can take everything off, soak them in white vinegar. If you can't, then you can try to run white vinegar through the system. Just stick the hoses that go into the washer tank into a jug of vinegar and spray away. Soaking them overnight works better though.

The pressure regulators are on the hoses right? I cleaned those out. There are none in the hood nozzles themselves right?

No, there's no regulator in the nozzles. Did you replace the T-fitting on the fill cap with a regular T-fitting by chance? How did you clean out the regulators that are on the hoses?

Pulled every washer hose out of the car and ran water through them. Everything is cleaned out up to the nozzles...

Might be time for a new pump. It may not be able to create pressure when under load. Are you getting anything out of the nozzles?

If I disconnect the hoses from the sprayer nozzles everything works fine.

It sounds like your nozzles then. Take them off and soak them overnight in vinegar. You may need to mechanically clean them out first. Or just replace them.

Those aren't pressure regulators, they're just check valves. They keep the water from draining back into the tank. I had the same trouble as you and couldn't get mine cleaned out. Had to go to the dealer for some new ones. They weren't much. Maybe a couple of bucks. Now it works fine.

Actually, they do both. They're spring loaded and keep the pressure balanced between the two nozzles. I refer to them as pressure regulators to differentiate it from the check valve that's in the tank.
