Where to get magnetic numbers??
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can get some magnetic numbers for my car? I have been thinking about getting some for autoX purposes, but have been putting it off (mainly because I am just lazy). I am going to try and attend a DE this month though and need numbers for it. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I just made my own!
Went to a local sign shop (looked in yellow pages)and bought a roll (3ft by 6ft long) of magnetic sheeting material. Then I use my computer and printer to print out templates for the numbers I needed in full size. Then I taped the numbers to the sheeting and cut through the paper and sheeting with a utility knife.
Here is picture of the result.
BTW... You may want to tape the numbers down since the wind at DE speeds especialy tends to blow them off the car.

I've used both of the above sources. The sign shop stuff is much thicker, feels like it wants to stick more. I ordered mine online. I think it was $40 for 20 feet by 3 wide. I split it with a buddy and we both had enough to do both sides and make removable sticker/decals that would otherwise never make it on my car.

take a magnetic sheet and some computer printed stencils. cut with an exacto tool. it took me about 2-3 hours. they look perfect, then paint them with some bumper-spray paint.
Mine are silver..looks great on guards red.

You can make your own. Cost under $20.00 for either type:
First type: go to any craft store and get magnetic strips about 2 inches long, and 1/4 inch wide. Paint the strips in a contrasting color to your car. Cut the ends to look like: "/\" and you can make your own numbers (like on a digital clock) Here's what it looks like on my old MR2:
Second type: I used MS-Word, and created an oval with a background color, and contrasting color for the numbers (Yellow background and black numbers word best). Printed it off on a high quality laser color printer. I then cut out the oval and had it laminated. Next, I bought a sheet of magnetic material with adhesive on it, and attached the oval to the sheet. Be sure to leave a little border of laminate-to-laminate around the oval paper, otherwise the laminate will peel off.
Here's what this looks like on my 944S2:
It's not professional, but it does the job!

PS: Here's a picture of me having fun while cutting the grass. No numbers on the snapper, though...

I'll second edecals.com. I put together a hokey little design (don't laugh too hard:numbers) , saved it as a jpg, and emailed it off to them. I had two ovals delivered in about a week for ~$40. The quality is not the best - but the price and the ease of transaction easily make up for it. I'd use them again.

Opps! I forgot: a friend of mine had another magnetic done for me for my hood. It had the outline of the Porsche crest with my autox number (42) on it and some other graphics (The horse from the Porsche emblem, and "THE FLASH" logo). That was done by a local sign shop: I forgot the name. If you're interested in what shop did this, let me know. IIRC, the sign ran $40.00

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm not sure which way I will go (homemade or purchase), but you have all provided me with a lot of info. I will probably be rather busy for most of the month (work and bearings in the 951), so I am leaning more towards having someone else do the numbers for me.
Thanks again for the help.
