Man.. that sounds oddly familiar. Perhaps that is why things did not work out in the end.
She says:
"You dumb boys, cars cars cars, that is all you think about. You spent what on it? You should have bought a new car. I don't care if it will be like new, think of the time you have spent on it! You could spend that with me. You spent what again? Cars cars...."
I am thinking:
"Humm... wonder if I should get the big reds now or later. Did I torque that bolt right? Man, I really need to get out there and finish it. If I got another job, I could really hook it up. She should be in the garage with me if she wants time with me. She can turn a wrench."
I need a woman that appreciates cars almost like I do.

Opps.. you just described my GF. While she doesn't know thing one about mechanics, she'll come out and keep me company - ask questions (and actually listen to the answers). Shoot, everytime I mention I ought to give the car a wash, she's right there with me helping out (boy, waxing a car takes a LOT less time with 2 people doing the work!)
Oh yea, she's the same with motorcycles (actually instigated a search to buy her own).... of course, cute as hell and soon to be stinkin rich sure don't hurt anything either.. I hope to be like icat in about 28 years..

My wife didn't understand. One day she said,"Why are you so obsessed with this car?" I replyed without hesitation,"It's shaped like a beautiful woman, and its almost as fun to ride!"
She understands now...

As long as I have the cleaning lady come every two weeks to clean the house, all is well.
BTW, she has two Porsches of her own.
(89 C4, 89 944 NA ) and does some track events
with me.
I pay for the R compound tires for her C4. and also take care of her car at the track.

LOL!!! My wife has been hounding me to get one for about a year now! (Shhhh: don't tell her I posted this! )
Actually, it was Sefania (Eugene's lady), that made me realize one very, very important thing about my wife: if she's not into driving cars, don't try to force the issue! Before, I was trying to get her to try a DE event day in and day out. Then there was a monthly PCA meeting which was a panel of ladies that are involved with our PCA (DE, autocross events: not just wine tasting and social events!) I asked them the question: "How can I get my wife involved with track driving?" Stefania's answer was: "First of all, get her to drive your car on the STREET. Second: don't force her to do something she isn't comfortable with." Very, very wise words.
Now, my wife still doesn't want to get involved in the driving aspect, but she's come out to root me on at autocross events, and has joined me on a couple of DE events, where she spends half the day at the pool at the motel, and the other half watching me go 'round and 'round.
She did say last night that she may try autocross, if I do something, but I forgot what...I think it has something to do with a new kitchen....
One final note: on the way home from Watkins Glen last August, she said something to me when we were discussing my car and how it performs: "You know, Zoltan, you CAN get a new Porsche." My eyes lit up, and she added, "not now, but someday, in the future, you can upgrade..."
So my question is: what's a better counter top: Corian or Granite?
Sorry for the long post.
-Zoltan.
PS: I love Kim more and more everyday!

I took my girl to Hershey because a friend couldn;t make it... Now she wants to trade in her beat up Pathfinder for a 356 (she wishes), or at least a 944auto with no problems! "Ha!", i said and then I showed her my receipts. I think that scared her pretty good. Seriously tho' i would seriously consider getting her one of those 944 auto if it weren't for her need to drive to work on snowy days.

yeah, my girlfriend drives a pontiac sunfire.... you guys can imagine the rest.
just today i pointed out a bmw 850 on the highway and she's like "i don't like how it looks" and i'm like "you drive a sunfire"
anyway, at least she manages to put up with me and my friend's constant car talk she can barely participate in, or she tries to at least. she gets bored after a while, which is understandable considering she has no idea what we're saying

Well I believe there has been several posts where I have stated my wife's opinion on our 951. She did not even know how to drive a 5-speed when I bought her the car. Now she uses it as a dailt driver and I never get to drive the thing anymore except at events and of course when we go out. Did I mention she likes to go fast ? She is wanting to upgrade to a 96-97 TT someday and when that happens the 951 will be all mine !
